Since I became a resident in sl I purchased my Linden via paypal, recently I havent been able to do this I keep getting a message saying i have no payment method on file. I go to update my billing and reenter the paypal details, get therough the whole process then when I am returned to LL I get a message saying this paypal account has been restricted. I have contaqcted paypal and they say that my account has not been restricted at all.
Is anyone else having this problem, I am from uk and dont want to use my credit card, but i now have no way of purchasing Linden now. This sucks

Can't help with the 'no payment method' problem, but you can still buy L$. Get an account at XStreet (the old SL Exchange site) if you don't already have one: http://xstreetsl.com/index.phpYou can then use your Paypal account to buy L$ from XStreet (which is on the Second Life Risk API and is as safe as buying from Linden Lab itself). This page details how to use Paypal when buying from XStreet: http://xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=37

I called support. If I understood the answer correctly, the policy concerning paypal has recently changed. Funds must already be in your paypal account before LL will attempt to draw it out.

From: K3n Oh I called support. If I understood the answer correctly, the policy concerning paypal has recently changed. Funds must already be in your paypal account before LL will attempt to draw it out. There is always a positive balance in both my paypal and my secondary funding source, anyways, the issue is that LL wont allow me to use my paypal account I keep getting an error message stating that my paypal account has been restricted which is not so as is confirmed by paypal itself. I will show you exactly what happens and what steps i take. I dont have a payment method on my account anymore as LL wont allow me to. I am trying to use my paypal account like i used to, but i have a problem. 1. I log into my acount and click on update my billing info. 2. I then click on the paypal link which takes me to the paypal log in screen. 3. I agree the terms and conditions. 4. I click on return to LL. 5. I get an error message saying this paypal account has been restricted. 6. I then email paypal to see what the restriction is, and am told that there is no restrictions on my paypal account. so I delete all paypal payment agreements with LL. I follow the above steps again only this time I open a new window after step 3 and change the secondary funding option to bank account. I then follow the rest of the steps above. but i get the same message. There is a positive balance on both my paypal and bank account. Paypal recon there could be a problem on LL side as there is no problem with my paypal account. I have paypal payment agreements with other web companies and have no problems, Just with the LL agreement is there a problem... never used to be mind you, I always paid with paypal untill about 3 months ago. this is getting very frustrating as I have no way of buying linden dollars now. (((((

Also, I had that 'restricted' message on my account like a year and a half ago and the Linden Billing rep I spoke to (after confirming with PayPal that everything was fine) told me they didn't know what caused it and had no way to fix it. Isn't that confidence-inspiring? Anyway, I don't know if this is the case with the OP, but I had both my main and alt on the same email address with LL and, when I switched my alt to a different email, I suddenly stopped getting the error. They were, and are still, both using the same PayPal account for payment.

Also, instead of contacting Paypal, you should try contacting LL's billing support.
*shrugs* Or you could just do as Skell suggested and use XStreet. They follow LL's Risk API and have better customer service.

From: wes Wylie thanks for your help ppl, I tried xstreet but I think i am kind of dumb cause I cant get that mass payment thingy set up properly You don't have to do that mass payment thingy. Get your xstreet account created, click on the Currency Exchange, then click on Deposit USD, enter a USD dollar amount and click on Start Deposit, click on Continue Deposit and you will get a screen where you can either enter a credit card number or log in to Paypal, if you log into paypal, the purchase will already be set up and you just have to finish the process, you then will be returned to xstreet and you USD balance will have money. go back to Currency Exchange, select Buy SLL, after the order is placed, you xstreet SL balance will increase and your xstreet USD balance will decrease, then select Withdraw SLL, enter the amount and your avi will be paid.

I never heard of that company. The thing is if you're not using a company that has API recognized by LL you can lose your entire account funds or lose your account. LL gets pretty upset around any illegitimate L$ being bought from third party places.. I am not sure if LL has list of legit companies you can buy L$ from. Only ones I am absolutely 100% sure about is Xstreet. But not sure why Xstreet there be no problem to buy when LL won't allow you too. It doesn't make sense. Glad it worked out for you, here is hoping no major problems happen in future. Good luck. FD

Perhaps you need to verify your Paypal account (again?) That will have them send some small amount to your connected bank account, and you'll need to verify that it is your bank account by telling them what amount it was. You can choose this option somewhere in your Paypal. Not all companies want this verification, but LL does. So it is very possible that you can use Paypal to pay others, but not SL. I normally have no money in my Paypal account. When I pay teir I just increase my credit in my SL account. That's then taken from my Paypal, and Paypal takes it automatically from my bank account. (This is what the verification is for).

Here is a complete list of International Linden Exchange services that are using The proper Risk API Use this list to ensure that you don't lose your money and or get your account frozen or banned http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/L$_Marketplace

Yeah thanks for all the advice, the problem with verifying my paypal account is that it already is verified and that its on LL that has an issue with this. I use ebay and all other manner of shops etc with paypal and there are no issues at all.
Will look at that list tho thanks.
