Every designer and club have a group. I was wondering does everyone find this annoying..

1. Landing at a Store to shop and you have to click ignore/no on 3 or 4 pop up's with a group invite and landmark, rules etc.

2. Going to a club and getting an invite before you even get the feel for the place..

I for one won't use an auto group joiner cause I feel it will turn others off when thats the first thing they get when they land in my store. I have a group joiner pod sitting out which can be clicked to join and I figure if you found it, you really don't need the LM or you can eaisly make one yourself... Am I wrong?

My group joiner doesn't bother you unless you click it. I don't get many new members but I don't annoy the heck out of anyone either!

That's what I use... It only makes sense I don't feel the need to spam my customers.

If I land somewhere and get dialog spammed, I just leave and never go back. Oh and I leave the dialogs open so the listen never gets closed.

That's what I thought most would do... I know it drives me nuts having to click multiple boxes when I land somewhere with the intent to shop. So these auto inviters are more annoying and not reccomended for shop owners? that was my intent to see if a vast majority of you were annyoed by em... So I will do business as usual..

(Ignore)ing the dialogs has the same effect.

I also just use a group inviter that people have to click on. And just one line greeter text in chat when people enter my sim. That's it. Group/notecard/pick spam is very very annoying AND redundant: most people immediately click them away.

I have a free standing prim that says Click to Join. I get a list of peeps that have been in and I send them ONE invite. I keep track of who has been invited and I try my damnedest not to screw up and invite them again. I do not have any auto chat greeter inviter thingie 'cause I hate the nonsense as well. If I am in the store when peeps come in, I hello them, offer help then leave them alone. If it's someone I know then we chat a bit but then I leave them alone. If the conversation does ensue, I politely ask them to add me to their picks IF they like my stuff.

I use a click to invite as well. As for being in the shop. I am rarely in there as it seems that slows sales.. IMO.... It seems its what I thought everyone is getting annoyed with auto spam inviters etc.. So I'm not alone in this and won't be changing how it's done in my shop..

Thanks all for the replies...

I am usually about 800 meters above in the workshop, but come down to place boxes and such- I agree though that some folks scatter when the owner is around.

I try to encourage group chat amongst the members in hopes we can break the ice though- maybe with time.

Another House of Design I love is Falln Angels. I enjoy the rapport among the group members and the chat in group. It is similar in spirit to the Cartel- friends who enjoy each others' company and happy to share an interest in the same fashion. If there is any Design House in SL I would hope to emulate it would be them- in spirit not in style, for while I absolutely love their styles and my inventory bulges with things from Falln, I do not create in the same style.

I used to build on the roof of my shop LOL. I found it actually generated more sales as they saw what was coming out soon. :)

I take things a step farther I dislike shop groups entirely. With a limit on the number of groups I find it annoying to have to belong to one to get product updates.

I agree, I go to clubs and can't join contests because they are limited to group members and my groups are taken up by rentals etc.. So my money is no good in their club.. They would rather have non-tipping noobs as patrons I guess.. Oh well saves me money that way.. lol

Taylor, you're doing exactly the right thing.

It's most annoying when you arrive at a store and are being spammed by group invites and landmark offers etc.

I make sure my "Greeters" only greet in IM text at my club, and a landmark is only offered if you come inside and should only be offered once. If you choose not to enter, you can click the Sandwich to get a landmark that way. In addition I keep my greeters limited to the bridge to the club and the club it's self, so passers by would not be bothered or our neighbors.

Personally I would rather offer the landmark if some one enters and have it turned down then have some one come to an event have a great time and forget to take a landmark, and not return because they could not remember where we are.

I agree with everybody that dislikes automatic invites and various pop ups.I use a simple group join script, free in the scripting library, works for me.It is interesting that some of you find that people do not like owners around them when they shop. That is my opinion as well, are people shy?I tend to speak only when spoken to,for this reason.
