Need Tips on How to Work w/ZHAO

I just purchased Yuukie's free ZHAO override (thanks Yuukie!). It's just what I needed for the most part, especially for free. The hugs and kisses may come in handy :-)

However, I do need some instructions since it didn't come with a notecard. My main problem is when my Av is just standing there, it runs through all of the poses. For the most part, not an issue until it goes into "crouch" mode. Now that is a problem! Kind of insulting when you're talking with someone and you suddenly fall to the ground in a menacing stance.

Tips? Thanks!

That's the way AOs are meant to work. If you don't like that pose, the only thing you can do is replace or remove it.

If you haven't edited an AO before, this might help:

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Also I believe it is made by Ziggy Puff

Yes, it is made by Ziggy Puff but she configured it already so that others who are having problems with it (like me) don't have to do it on their own. I'm a bit confused by the whole thing, so it's great that someone else went through the bother for us dunces :-) Not literally "purchased", - she makes it available for free.

If it goes into a crouch animation while you're just standing there, it would probably mean she had the AO set up wrong... she probably has the crouch animation listed in the STAND pose section of the notecard. Would have to find which animation the crouch one is, and remove the name from the STAND section of the notecard, and move it to the CROUCH or GROUND SIT section.

I've seen AOs (generally male) which purposely include a crouch as a stand, so it isn't necessarily a mistake.

From the animation tips forum, a good ZHAO guide:

Also, and frankly much better, the ZHAO-II is available. It is WAY easier to work with.

ZHAO is actually very easy to use, but yes I too have noticed that a lot of times the ZHAO gets passed around so much it ends up missing the notecard with the instructions.

If anyone needs help, just give me a shout, I am thinking about putting together a notecard with some info on it as to the basics of how to use the ZHAO (I got a ZHAO without a notecard in it)

works much like the wet ikon AO, and the notecard for the animations can be transfered from the wet Ikon to the ZHAO.

anywho..

I'm pretty sure Yuukie's freebie package uses a ZHAO-II. If the HUD has 2 round buttons, it's probably a ZHAO-II.

There should be a notecard inside the AO's inventory as well - what happens if you click the 'menu' button, and then on the blue menu, the 'Help' button?

You can also check my profile in-world for landmarks to where you can pick up an empty ZHAO-II - that will have the help notecard in the folder.

As other said, you can find that pose and remove it from the "Stand" line. You can also turn off stand cycling if you want, and manually move from one stand to another. Or increase the delay between stand changes, if you think it's cycling through the animations too quickly. Pick up an instruction notecard from my store, it'll tell you how to do all this. And feel free to IM me if you need help.

Ziggy, thanks so much for replying to this thread. I know that you're really busy which is whyI didn't bother going to you.

I did already have yours in my inventory. I wound up discarding Yuukie's version prior to seeing your post. Hers did not have the notecard. I went back to the version I got from you at Winged Isle and found a tutorial online which was really helpful for me. It was very clear and step-by-step. I put in a walk which I had purchased weeks ago and it's working fine. I'll load in other animations which I already owned as I need them.

Thanks for responding! I really appreciate it and if I run into any more trouble I'll IM you. It's amazing how having that tutorial in front of me made such a huge difference. Sometimes, things seem a lot more difficult than they actually turn out to be :-)

Yes, AO's can be complex to set up the first time. But once you figure out how it works (and a tutorial is a big help), it should be pretty easy the next time :)

Here it is:

http://www.secondframe.net/support/AO_Guide.PDF

BTW, where it mentions using Control T, it ISN'T. Use Control 3. Control T brings up the chat box. Other than that, the instructions were fine although I think it was for a different version - but it works fine for giving you the basics to manuever through the II version too. You'll be able to figure it out if I could :-)
