Hi .. Yesterday I created a new group, but it still isn't showing up in search results (either search all or just search groups). How long does it take for a newly created group to be indexed in the SL search engine so that SLers can find it? I'm patient; but curious too!

I'm not sure how often it indexes, the group shows on your profile, how many people are in the group?

Yes . no problem about the group showing on my profile ... it is indeed there. Just curious as to when it will show up in search results. There are only 2 members right now .. hence importance of the search availability. I did check "include in search" when I created the group yesterday ....

What I want to do is put a "Group Inviter" script in a prim at my LM site. So I need for the group to be indexed so that I can get the group code to plop into the script. .... he he

I found this in the knowlegebase, looks like it takes between 1 and 3 days:
"22. When does the new search get updated? The static HTML pages on world.secondlife.com update twice daily at 3 AM and 3 PM Pacific time. It may take 1-3 days for those updates to be reflected in the search results. Due to the nature of search indexing, we're not able to make any guarantees about when any changes will appear. " |
