Despite having the specs needed to to run windlight my computer hates it. When I log in it only behaves normally for a few minutes before doing one (and sometimes both) of the following things: everything on screen goes green and then the freezes followed, or it starts breaking up. Imagine the effect when you throw brick at a glass window,; it's like that excepet the effect is muticoloured instead and starts flashing like mad; this is usually followed by a massive system crash. Someone please for the love of god tell me there is an alternative client. I really cannot play Second life whilst it's like this, the last time my computer hated a program this much it nearly melted the frigging motherboard.

there are a couple, but it sounds like you may need to update your graphics drivers

There is the on-rez and nicholas viewers out there

Sounds like it might be the "VBO enabled" problem so folk get. Go into the graphics settings in the preferences. Click on "Hardware Options" and remove the tick/check from "Enable OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects" then apply.

If that dont fix it.... or it wasnt ticked/checked in the first place... dunno

Raph, Give me an IM next time you are in world. Llola had similar problems which we fixed. There are some reported problems with the latest nvidia drivers and SL. Disabling VBO may be a short term fix and or going to Low graphics option.

There's also a chance it could be an overheating card.

no vbo is not checked I unchecked it when Llola mentioned it and I've already checked that it has not been reticked somehow. I checked Nvidia to see about the drivers and it said I had the latest drivers which does not surprise me as I updates a few days ago. I don't know about the overheatind part; is there any way I could find out please?

I tried putting it on low and I'm afriad it had no effect

Raphaela, have you tried running another graphically intense program?.

I ask because it might not be an issue with SL, but with your computer in general.
