My surfboard is missing...

Last night I tried to stand my new surfboard in the corner of my house. I managed to rez it on the ground and I tried to stand it up. After a while I realized my idea was silly and decided to put it back into my inventory, but I couldn't. The TAKE in the pie was disabled. Since it was late and I had to log out, I left it on the floor of my home (I own the property and house). I fugured it would be there when I came back today, when I did, it was gone and not anywhere in my inventory.

Should I wait, put in a support ticket, or consider it lost?

Any help is appreciated.

Big in-world rezzing and inventory problems in the last 48 hours - keep an eye on the blog for info on what to do (currently says things are fixed). Given the warnings issued recently, i would guess your board is gone, but, fill out a support ticket if it was very valuable.

create a notecard explaining it nicely that the item went missing due to asset server problems (if the item was no transfer) and give it to the creator of the board
go to "my account -> transaction history" and copy the transaction entry (the first number + date&item) so they can look it up

most shop owners are great and usually send a new copy after showing the transaction number, had the same problem 2 days ago and the items not showing up early this morning after letting the assets server get back to "normal" and was sent the items by CS :)

Well I did both. A note to the creator and a support ticket. We will see who responds first.

Just a thought, if Take in the menu wasn't enabled you may have been disconnected from the sim before moving it around. The only reason I'd expect Take to not light up is when the sim never responds with the object's name and permissions, which it's supposed to do when you right-click it. In that case, it might be left behind somewhere, so you could retrace your steps. Sorry to hear about the trouble, in any case.

It was not left behind. Since that time, I have deleted my house and moved to a skybox. I did find a number of "left behind" items. I removed them, but still no surfboard.

The seller did say she would look into it. Then, I got an email saying ";(SELLER) has accepted your inventory offer in Second Life." What ever that means...

Nuvo,
Maybe not of comparable quality to what you've lost/misplaced as it's a Freebie, but there's a place in Wein - near The Bordomall of SL Arts, I think, where Surfboards by Ice Strawberry are available at 0L$.
I took one but don't know yet if it's anything more than a decorative item.

Thanks, but no thanks. I have one like that already. Its why I want my good one back.

Not that many here care... But there are basically two kinds of scripted surfboards out there.

1. Cheap Ones that are poorly shaped and look like you are walking a tight rope while riding them, if they are not just for decoration.

2. (L$500 and up) Good Ones that look real and work very well, but only work on one type of SL wave (TWC, Surfline, etc.) You can use similar one's free at TWC Surfing area.

I understand that if the seller decides not to replace it (not their fault after all), I will just buy a new one and move on. I will wait for a final reply from the seller, before buying a replacement though.

I've had this happen several times, even when there were no asshat server errors. The support ticket reply form the linden's will tell you to contact the creator. Don't waste your time waiting on the linden's help, you won't get any in this matter. Besides the 'clear your cache' idea and when(not 'if'...lol) that fails contact the creator.

I've had this happen with my surfboard, it's a physical thing (vehicle) and easy to move around by anyone.

Try looking around your land, your neighbors, and also pan your camera down and look under the land. It may have gotten moved.

Might also want to check in the corner of your sim, lost items sometimes end up there, it's amazing what you can find down there (0,0,0)

I wouldn't trust anything a linden tells me about something being fixed.

So far, _every_ _single_ _one_ of the last ten or so "Issues" started to hit me _after_ linden labs posted the "resolved" blog entry.

Oh, first one to ask about my connection speed wil be tar'ed and fsck'ed.

Well, I got my FINAL response from LL - Unresolved. They told me to search for it. Duh!

Maybe I should something like a RETURN ALL from my property (can this be done?). I can always put my skybox back.

Don't return all, you'll end up with a big pile of mess in your inventory, stuff all joined together.

Although you got the email after she said she'd look into it, the inventory she accepted was probably your note card and the email notification was just delayed.
