It is impressive. Maybe one day we'll have that much detail.

If SL had that from the start, creating logos and tattoos and clothing bases like the jacket would be just as important... and LL would probably have provided two jackets and a tee shirt, a blouse, three pairs of jeans, two dresses, and four pairs of shoes.

Judging from what I read in the threads . . . that is enough for some people. heh

If SL had that, I wouldn't be in it since I'm quite sure this old trout of a computer would not be able to run it :P

Very nice indeed. What I see when I look at that is everything that SL *could* have been had they not been lazy and stopped short. A proper higher poly mesh, proportional morph points with better fine tuning, balanced UV map, and functioning real-time layer wrapping... I'd even bet they took the time to make sure that the AV meshes don't distort unnaturally when animated. All of that is within SL's capabilities right now, it's just nobody at LL wants to do the crap work to make it happen IMO. I also see a ton of premade content, including editable mesh addons, which is cool but reminds me very much that there's a line between truly allowing custom content and being another Sims clone.. which I think this looks like as far as the clothing stuff goes. The customization tools are really good, but unless they can work the same way with standardized uploaded content, then it's a Sims clone, which means it's pretty limited in the scope of what you can do with it.
I like what I see for sure, but at the same time I'll admit I did cringe when I saw the EA logo.. because I know about EA'a take on user content and how they'd *rather* sell you an expansion pack than give you that freedom.

I'd be happy with a mesh that just fixes our asses.

That EA thing I find a little disturbing.
It puts the focus on the facade, maybe diverting it away from the minds behind the avatars.
So many shallow people could look so great.

One of the very recent comments on the video states "there is no storyline online is the storyline and if u have a plain out boring mind with no creativity then you'll hate this game.

"Basically the game is ONLINE ONLY."

Sound familiar? That doesn't mean it's anything like a Second Life though. Probably more linear.

I think if SL went the other way then, and made us all look like Ruth, so it was pnly our minds that distinguishes us all from each other, then it would be goodbye SL, hello Cuckoo-Land.

if SL actually started out with the avatar customization minus the clothing options, then YEAH i could go for that. i loved the scar over the punk girl's eye.

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.
