i am confused on the up coming adult changes.
we have a homestead sim that is open to the public and clothing is optional.
it is listed as women only and is strictly a friendly open atmosphere.

My question is.....will it need to be closed and or will it not show up in search?

Please help me understand this matter better.

Thank you

My understanding is that the sim/estate will need to be flagged as Adult and only the Adult verified folks can get in. If you use any of the "restricted" words in your land description or classifieds, then search will only display it to people with the Adult box checked on search.

Then again, maybe not - cuz I keep getting confused as to exactly what really constitutes "adult" vs "mature" as LL does not want to be explicit about it.

The old designations for sims were PG and Mature -- now they are PG, Mature, and Adult.

It's somewhat unclear, but the Lincdens have repeatedly stated that a "nude beach" setting, where clothing is not required but no sex is going on, would still be OK on Mature, provided the nudity can't be seen from other parcels. If the homestead is not attached to other sims, and you own all the land in the Homestead, I think you'd still be OK in Mature ratings. If you wanted the safest option, flag it Adult, though that limits who can go there.

According to Blondin nudity is not "adult".

Next question: what does "nudity" refer to. Are non-erect prim "naughty bits" considered automatically adult? (Edit: I see other people are bringing this up)

Not automatically. It depends on what they are doing.
Hanging out at a nude beach would be fine. Walking around pants-less on the mainland just to expose yourself to others would be inappropriate.

So can we again get a clarification on this? Are non-sexualized depictions of nudity (basically, the vendors images most skin makers tend to use) 'Mature' or are they 'Adult'?

They are mature - NOT adult.

Yes, but if you have any poseballs anywhere that are sex ones.. even hidden in a backroom. It suddenly becomes "adult".

I haven't seen that last caveat (provided the nudity can't be seen...) stated before, and don't forget adult estate regions can be adjacent to (and visible from) mature regions. Do you have a citation for that?

as long as you are not breaking one of the adult definitions you would be fine on mature..

look at the adult definitions to see what has to be adult..don't look at the mature to see what can be on mature because it will leave a big gap of wonder doing it that way..

if you don't fit into the adult definitions then you are ok on mature. ;)

I would guess this stems from a Matthew Linden response to a support ticket, quoted here: .

The relevant bit is: "All private (indoors) residential adult activity is acceptable in Mature mainland. Anything out in the open isn't." But I don't think avatar nudity is supposed to qualify as "adult activity" (for the moment) so I'm thinking this may not apply.

I think a more likely problem for the OP would be any adult poseballs, or any other objects showing in Search that have an adult term in name or description.

Because the parcel is intended to be public (for which being listed in Search is a sufficient but not necessary condition), even if there aren't any naughty poseballs, some enterprising couples may bring their own animation sets and generate conditions for an AR--although probably one that could be won on appeal, in theory. After all, such couples could do the same thing on land of any rating without the landowner knowing.

Sorry - I had coke coming out of my nose when I read this phrase. It's about as confusing and self contradictory as the Linden policy. lol (I'm just playin' I know what you're trying to say, but it is pretty humorous the way it came out).

In theory - you should be okay as mature. If you have any of the "bad words" in your description, it will get filtered from PG/Mature search, regardless of what setting you have your land at though. Check it by unchecking adult and see if you can still find your place. If it doesn't show up - you'll have to find the word or words that are triggering the filter - if you want to stay as Mature.

If it were me (and it was me last week) I'd just call it "Adult" and call it a day. We did it and have seen no decline in traffic on our sim. I have gotten one IM from a regular visitor who didn't know what was going on and I explained that they needed to just fill out the AV form here since they didn't have Payment Info going for them. She logged and was back on (and in sim) within about 5 minutes.
