The Line Above Your SL Name

I belong to several groups and rotate them periodically so they appear above my SL name. Sometimes I see people who apparently are able to put whatever name or phrase they wish up there above their SL name. How do I do this? What are the steps? Does it cost something?

Create your own group. It costs L$100. Don't forget to add a second group member within 48 hrs (it can be an alt) or your group will be disbanded and you will be unable to use your group's name again.

You can also use a titler which is a prim you wear attached (invisible) it holds a script with the text you want to display. There are many freebies about- not in world to drop on you now, sorry .

do a inworld search for a 'titler' this enables you to put whatever you want, some even allow you to change colour, most are free.

Also note that if you create your own group to set up group role names, there is a limit of ten such titles per group. Only ten roles can be defined within a group.

Titlers are a simple scripted prim that listens for a command to change what they display, and that displays hovertext over your head. Text for a titler will never look quite like the text for a person's name or group tag. It can be worn in addition to a name and group tag, but will sometimes appear to overlap them.

I can't get in world right now to look for a titler, but maybe there's another way. I set up a group to own my two small mainland parcels. I'm the Owner, my alt is an Officer. When I set my group to the active group all I get above my name is "Owner"...I want it to say "Jackies Friends and Family", the group name. Is a titler the only way or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

You need to open your group information and go to the Members & Roles tab. Then choose the Roles tab underneath, and you can set the title for each role to whatever you want!

Oh, and if you want lots of different Roles with titles attached, you can create new roles too. You will go to the General tab for the group to select your Active Role, which will determine which title you display.
