How is this even a Second Life related question? Are you talking about the embedded Mozilla browser inside the SL viewer, or are you talking about browsers in general?

In any case, the term "browser settings" is pretty self-explanatory, is it not? Like all programs, your browser has all kinds of user-configurable options, from color schemes and on-screen button positions to security features and file management specifications. All those things are settings. And because they're in your browser, they are browser settings.

For the options that make the most difference to the behavior of the program, if you're using Firefox click Tools -> Options, and take a look at what's there. There are dozens of things you can tweak. Or if you're using Inernet Explorer, it's Tools -> Internet Options. If you're using some other browser, look for something similar. They all have something like that.

As for why you can't get onto Yahoo, well, the more important question is why are you asking that on an SL forum instead of on a Yahoo forum?

Clear your browser's cache.

If using winxp, do Start Run, enter cmd, enter "ipconfig /flushdns".

Unplug your router for a few minutes, also your moderm.

Have you just lately enabled UPnP on your router by any chance?

When you view Network Connections, do you see "Internet Gateway"?

I just had my browser losing connection while SL was still connected, which is the reverse of the normal problem. Similar to what you described.
