I made my first Abuse report on the Adfarmer in Bear sim with the 16 meter square with three cubes of porn on it. The land is set to sell for $250000. Let's see how long it takes for something to happen.

Well I don't like LL telling people what they can or can't do. It shouldn't be necessary in a virtual world. But if they're gonna play cop then the rules should simply be:-

"If a resident is being an asshole then please report them and a liaison will investigate."


But hasn't this rule always been in place? :confused:

You can take the player out of the game, but you can't take the human out of the player... as long as humans can be assholes, their virtual selves will be too.

Overcome greed, selfishness and the desire to get "one up" on someone else... and virtual worlds might have a chance one day.

True. That worried me for a minute until I realized that now the only way for adplots to make a profit was through ad sales...which are not (at least, so we all believe) profitable.

This removes a major incentive for adfarmers to exist. It's subject to argument and to the whims of LL, but it's a big move in the right direction.

I don't believe any ad farmer can exist on the income of advertising alone - it had to be the profit from people buying their plots to get rid of the crap that paid tier and kept them going.

The only way now would be for someone to have a handful of plots, using left-over tier, and doing it on a very small scale - so there's no actual 'cost' involved to them for having the land.

Of course, that still leaves the "be an asshole to the person you don't like by putting ugly crap on a 16sqm plot next to them" - but I don't think you'll ever get round that without removing much of the enjoyment of 'free form building' because it's very difficult to argue about the aesthetics of building.

I dunno about keep abreast of discussions, but some lindens do scan the forums (even if only to see there are tons of posts regarding this). I'll stick to my conclusion that it's hurting their bottom line. new sim becomes available, with someonespamming a key parcel or two, driving that parcels price up, and all the other parcels down, and making them unpalatable to buy... so LL sells less mainland, and people drop teir to move onto an island.
