Beta Grid Inventory

Hi there. Could someone please tell me how (or if it's even possible) to refresh my inventory on the Beta Grid to show new main grid items?

Also, is there a way to refresh L$ balance?

I have contacted Concierge and they suggested clearing cache, but that didn't seem to do anything.

New main grid items will not show up on the Beta Grid until and unless LL updates the Beta Grid Servers from the main grid. The is no connection between the two.

LOL. I can't believe Concierge suggested that. The silly beggars. Is being acquainted with the different grids a prerequisite for employees at all these days?

As indicated by Tomas, you cannot synchronize your inventory between grids. The beta grid is restored from main grid snapshots on a regular basis. Ie. If the last snapshot used for the beta grid was from 25 November 2007, your inventory and $Ls will be identical to that of your main grid account on that date - and anybody who joined after that date will be unable to login (there account didn't exist when the snapshot was taken).

They used to give everybody L$5000 every time it was updated but not anymore.

Talk to Data Linden or one of the other Lindens who works the Beta Grid, if you have a specific testing reason for getting your inventory there synch'ed up with the main grid. They do have a way to update your inventory fairly rapidly, though whether it is a push just for you, or a new snapshot for all, I am not absolutely certain. All I know is I once needed to test an item I had just bought on the main grid, and Data was able to synch my beta inventory with my main in a very short period of time after I requested help.

Going the other way is impossible. Nothing from the Beta grid is allowed to be exported to the main grid, other than exporting textures and doing a cut and paste with text stuff.

Do you know how frequently they do that and how I can monitor when it's going to happen?

I noticed that you can upload textures on beta, grab the UUID and use llSetTexture to get them on a prim on the main grid. Eventually however, it becomes 'Missing Image' - presumably when they roll the beta grid forward.

It's very unpredictable. I've known it go for months without any updates and then it'll suddenly be updated several times in a month.

There's a bus stop analogy to be found in there somewhere.

As for monitoring beta grid updates, they're sometimes mentioned on the blog, but not always.

I do wish I could hit a nice little button that says, "Update my beta grid inventory." Sometimes, there are textures I wanna test on certain prims.. and don't want to have to go through the whole headache of doing the prim all over again.

Scripts are another thing that's easily transfered, with the good ol' cut and paste. Not that I script, mind you.
