HI,
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on a situation a friend is having at his rental land. Every so often he keeps getting a green text chat message, consisting of what looks like a id code followed by about 15 or 20 lines of the @@@ symbol. Sometimes it happens once, other times 2 or 3 times in a row. I've seen something like this before when Grid wide griefing attacks happened, but have no clue how to stop it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Not sure if this is the right spot to ask this, but thought i'd start here.

green text is an object. There's something on the land - it's name is that string of characters. everything after the colon is the message. Hope that helps.

Some item is whispering or causing the text... . check his 'worn' items and land for anything that might be doing it..

There is also a menu option to look at the last chatter (including objects). If there is two of you it is easy to find the source fast through triangulation.

All you have to do is mute the object that is creating the spam. It tells you its name at the start of every line. |

Thx for all your insight. The problem has been rectified, and traced to the tier box on the land. Landlord has been notified and is looking into the problem.

You can mute the object, but it would be better to get rid of it. First off, does the text show up just to your friend, or to anyone standing near? Green text in the chat window is, curiously enough, also what you see from an object IM. So looking at the most recent chatter might not work. First thing to try is for your friend to detach everything from themselves. S/he might have a corrupted attachment.
Wherever it is, this object is running a script. So using the menu option (under View, I think) to show all objects running scripts might help. May want to View transparencies as well.
If your friend can't find the object, s/he should contact the landlord. Using the land menu, the landlord should be able to find the thing and get rid of it.
