I am trying to make a follower that emits particles at approximately mouth level. Obviously this is not going to be particularly exact, but what multiplier -- approximately -- of the avatar's hight should I use to be in the right sort of area? I can detect the avatar's position, which will tell where the avatar's middle is, so I want to tell my follower it needs to be there plus a proportion of the z value returned by llGetAgentSize() -- something around 0.4?
It has to be a follower and not an attachment.. it's something for my haunted house (go into a haunted house on Zindra and you risk demonic possession, you see).

llGetAgentSize() is eye height.
Innula, I would say 0.475 would be closer. Why not just start somewhere around .4 to .5 and adjust a little as as needed. A little trial and error should hit it perfectly in short order.

Thanks so much, all. Rhoda's 0.475 seems spot on, given that no offset is going to work for everyone.
We're still fixing up the house -- taking longer than anticipated because unexpected and mysterious accidents on site, of course -- and if last year is anything to go by, it'll be a work in progress up until we take it down. Not sure if I'm supposed to post slurls for a business in which I'm involved, but if anyone wants to look at my picks, I can't stop them.

From: Rhonda Huntress llGetAgentSize() is eye height. llGetAgentSize() is the size of the collision envelope, no? Eyes may be above or below the top of the collision envelope depending on avatar proportions.

And I have a quick question. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Garland/45/72/40 is on adult land, right? After the event is over I would be VERY interested to know how the turn out compares to last year's numbers.

We're actually quite pleasantly surprised with our traffic, both there and at the main shop on Zindra. I guess we know a lot more about marketing, and have developed more of a brand name, than we did this time last year, and we've built up quite a large mailing list, so we've been making a point of launching new products from Zindra, particularly ones aimed at our niche markets who're likely to be account verified but might not normally visit the place. If we were trying to start up now, I think things would look rather different.
