private group lists

I'm sure it's possible to make groups not show up on my profile. I'm wondering if it's a pick and choosable sort of setup which i'm doubting but asking anyhow. I'm also sure there's many forum topics on this but for some reason the search forum thing is failing me and just brings up a blank screen so.....

how do i do this though?

Open the group INFO window for that group. Uncheck the box "List in profile" lower right hand corner - right underneath the option to opt out of group notifications.
