~ ~ Flashback squiggle ~ ~

About three months back I acquired roadside land. Across the road were seaside apartments, a marina, and a modest boardwalk mall. This took up more than half the region, maybe 2/3s of it.

It was all abandoned in mid-late August. That's a lot to have abandoned. I guess they didnt pay their tier or something. Anyway the end result was blank coastline.

I wondered if the entire chunk would be divvied up for auctions or offered as one large piece.

Then suddenly this week I checked and found it was all yellow on the map and divvied up. Going back to the area, it seemed to be offered by some landflipper I've seen around heterocera continent (where this is). This chunk of land never saw the $L auctions from what I know.

The question is: Did LL initially just put up for sale or slip it to a real estate person for a price? Do they do this? Did I just overlook the region name on the auction page?

I'd say it's likely that you missed the auction, some land flipper bought it for a pittance and is seeking to profit by chopping it into bite size pieces and price gouging.

Not that I'm biased against the practise or anything. ;)

There used to be a way to see archived auctions. You can also send the coordinates into live help in a ticket and ask for the auction details.

If someone owns a large portion of land adjacent to abandoned land, then sometimes they can buy the abandoned land directly from LL, via a support request, rather than having to wait for an auction.

It's supposed to be a 512 or smaller though. If it was half a sim that would be unusual.

It does. I've gotten adjacent land twice that way, except one instance the third side was Linden.

Melita? I think I bought land from you at some point last year. Your name's familiar lol. Couldnt say where though.

To my knowledge, I've never heard of a land baron getting preferential treatment and parcels sold directly to them if they didn't have land already on the sim, but that does not mean it's never happened. Can you contact the baron and ask how they got the land?
