Attachment is stuck inside the body

I'm trying to attach a choker to the "chest" position. For some reasons unknown, SL decides to put the choker INSIDE my avatar's body for that position, and I cannot see or outline the choker at all. I've tried Ctrl-Alt-T but that's for highlighting transparent objects. "Select by surround" also won't work since this is an attachment, and not an in-world object. Zooming "inside" my avatar's body also won't work, as it's graphically very glitchy and I can't see anything inside the skin layer. This is getting very frustrating and annoying.
Is there any way to select this attachment?

I think this might work.

Detach your choker from your avatar.

Then attach to another point like your hand.

Edit it and change its position.

Detach from hand, reattach to chest; hopefully you positioned it so that it has moved away from your body and you can edited to where you want it.

Thank you. That worked =)
I had that thought too but I assumed that each attachment position had no effect on another.

I use to go into appearance when I get that problem. I edit my avatar's height from the original size and down to zero. I then jump on the posestand and look between my legs. For some stupid reason, changing the attacment point to chest makes the necklace/choker appear down in the bottom of the torso!!! I then pull it out from the body, go into appearance and set my height up again. Then edit it right.

I think this is faster than using 2 new attachment points, but it's because I am used to doing it this way. Same with piercings and belly rings. Since I am one of the few females that has a bit of body fat to smooth the ugly avatar mesh, belly rings are buried inside me when I attach them. I set body fat to zero, pull the belly ring a bit out, then go back to my usual size.

Marianne, I do something similar! I've got a shape I made that's called "looking for lost items" or something like that. It's much smaller and thinner...I wear it, then I can see the missing item and pull it away from my body. :)

That way, I don't have to fiddle with changing the attachment point. :)

Thank goodness for the explanation - I was really worried when I read the thread title!

I wish I could take credit for the idea; it was a suggestion I saw right here in Resident Answers! :)

Under the Advanced / Rendering menu there are options that help do this also -- cannot remember off the top of my head though what they are.

ctrl-alt-d for debug menu and then ctrl-alt-shift-4 to make your avatar invisible so you can see whats buried inside.
