I apologise if this has been asked before. The land behind mine has not been touched for several months, and a message that I sent six months ago has not been answered. The land is still owned by someone and fair enough: they don't have to be here so long as the dues are being paid. BUT: when I do a search for that person, they are not found. So...??? If my bank continues to pay, I assume I would continue to be 'here'. If not, I would be exiled... and my name would also disappear. Can someone explain?

Sounds like the land has been abandoned. You can enter a ticket and ask that it be put up for auction.

Sorry Cesce. I saw this one, but wasn't sure of the answer so I didn't say anything. First off, did you search in the new "all" search for the person, or in people because there have been several reports of all not listing everyone (at least that is my impression). If the land lists a person as the owner and not Gov Linden I am not sure if it qualifies as abandoned, but it is worth submitting a support ticket that explains you would like to buy the land, or at least see it come into the auction queue.

Good Luck. I am sure someone else will have a better answer.

Last month I bought a parcel and one of the neighboring parcels seemed to be owned by someone who didn't show in Search. I could click on the land and get the profile there, but not in search. I sent an IM to him. Last week I got a reply. It turns out that this person had been absent for a while and only returned to do a quick check on his parcel. Now, his profile shows in Search, so go figure. Maybe the search engine needs a little refresher every now and then.

Any objects on the land at all that you can click on and pull up their profile from the edit page?

If the land lists a person as the owner and not Gov Linden I am not sure if it qualifies as abandoned,

Strangely, Gov Linden seems to be VERY delinquent in reclaiming abandoned land these days. The parcel next to my home is a perfect example. The person's account was gone from search for two months. I had LL check it, and it was in fact abandoned, but had failed to revert to LL like it should have. As we are seeing this question a LOT now, I'm guessing the problem is fairly widespread.

What to do? Just what people are suggesting -- file a support ticket. As response to support tickets is fairly slow for things like this, I recommend following up two days later with a live chat. (Live chat is accessed through the Solution Finder if you aren't concierge-eligible. Ask us if you need help finding it.)

My neighbour parcel is owned by a group where the owner of the group has left SL. My impression is that as long as LL cashes on the credit card for the tier they do not care. This may be a company behind this land for which uS$100 a month is such a small amount they do not even realize they pay it.

I might be barking up the wrong tree...but have you also checked the sky? Look on the land details and see if any of the prims allocated to the land are in use..might not be anything on the ground, might be a whole kingdom in the sky!

I imagine ..... though not an expert..... that if other members of the group have donated enough tier, the group land will remain in the group's ownership, regardless of who owns the group.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will correct me shortly :o

I should also mention that I've seen group land that wasn't reclaimed after a group was disbanded. So the group no longer existed, meaning no tier was in it, but the land still showed as belonging to them.

I'm not sure why LL isn't reclaiming land in a timely manner any more, especially as it means lost revenue for them (because no one is paying tier for it).

This has happened on my sim in three large parcels... but i'm not complaining cause they are no build.. and they would probably become adfarms.

There is funny land all round my place - one house which has been there 10 months with a 10L$ land entry fee - never seen anybody there from the day it was built. Then there is the 128m that has been on sale at a very high price for a year. I even contacted the owner and they said they were not open to offers.

It is about a year since the land price frenzy and then the crash. I wonder how many people took out a year's membership then, bought land and lost interest. If there were a lot, I guess we might be seeing more cheap land or abandonments in the next couple of months.
