I have a favorite shape for my avie. However, there is one minor cosmetic issue. When I smile or grin, it looks like I have fangs or vampire teeth. That is, my teeth are too big for my mouth and the bottom of my teeth stick out from my lips when I grin. I've fiddled with the sliders for my mouth and face, but can't find the right setting to make it not do that without significantly changing the appearance of my face.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to de-fang myself?

Check for 2 tiny holes in the side of your neck.

It may be your skin. Try changing skins and see if they look different. Finding a skin that I like that also has nice teeth for smiling has proven to be a challenge.

If that means the bottom of the lower teeth actually protrude *under* the lower lip, then it isn't a matter of cosmetic dentistry (that is, not a skin issue), but rather a problem with one or more Shape sliders at incompatible extremes in Head, Mouth, and/or Chin. If that's the problem, probably one of the settings that are are very close to 0 (or 100) could be tweaked up to maybe 15 (or 85), put the teeth back behind the face, and still look acceptably close to the intended shape.

The annoying part is that it won't let you smile while adjusting the shape, so there's some trial-and-error in finding the right setting(s) to tweak, and then pushing them back as far as possible while still avoiding the problem. (I remember a long battle getting my face acceptably flat without the bottom of my eyeballs sticking through the eyelids.)

[Edit: Yes, Lindal, skins have teeth. When teeth have skins, it's a different problem.

It looks like you're right, Qie. It looks like I had a bit of an overbite. In Chin > Jaw Jut, the number was about 45. Looking in profile, I saw that the upper lip was further forward than the lower lip, allowing the upper row of teeth to poke through the lower lip when I'm grinning. I changed the Jaw Jut to 50 and now both lips are matched and I don't have the fang look. I can see a little white of my teeth between my lips, but they aren't protruding.

Looking for two holes in my neck was the first thing I checked, but I appear to be clean in that regard.

I wore fangs for the first 3 months of SL. i loved em.
Till I messed them up so they didnt fit me anymore lol. I never got round to sorting them out or getting new ones...I don't really wear them anymore, I might dig them out and see what I can do with them. Might be nice for a bit of fun lol.
