Has anyone taken the time to browse the map east of Corsica. It appears a new continent called Gaeta is been built. I wonder what this will mean for land prices.

Clearly the variable is how quickly they dump sims from the new continent on the market. What does the terra look like? _____________________

This would support my theory that the property value increase we'll see by having less blight to contend with will be balanced by a slow and steady release of more Mainland. Clearly the variable is how quickly they dump sims from the new continent on the market. What does the terra look like? They might not need much land for a lil While since adfarmers will be selling out. Also didnt the adfarmers say land prices would fall? |

So far is a huge circular continent, highlands made of granite surrounded by green coasts. Very similar to Corsica.

have a look for yourselves I just tp'd there all I see is granite, granite and more granite near the edges seems to be the same, still exploring though. edited to add, aha! near the water it turns to grass and sand stairstepping all the way up to the granite seems like right now, it is just one big mountain. (never seen a continent being made, so this is interesting to say the least) _____________________

It's pretty bland right now except no ad farms.
As everyone said, granite with grassy edges near the waterfronts. Not very interesting at the moment. _____________________

Some quite nice shallows around the western border stretching out to sea. I predict this seasons 'house' will be on stilts.

It's odd, and strangely unimaginative in more ways than one.
The landmass is a roundish flat dome. There is what is obviously intended to be a Linden Protected canal/road (the usual 16m-wide thing) circling the landmass. This is mostly just off the shoreline, but runs over land in places. LL are putting those sims in place before the sims that would complete Corsica. The Corsica still to come has an interesting coastline ( a la Slartibartfast). Could it be that the priority is landmass for the masses? Flat unchallenging stuff. - just square metres with a border of water opportunities - Easy - No imagination required? |

I agree that there is a lot of granite out there. I don't really understand the appeal of that. Large stretches of nice beach sloping up into gently rolling or terraced green land though that look very nice. Several sims seem to have a road running pretty close to the coastline, so if the land is left terraformed as it is the section of beach between the water and the road looks pretty narrow to me.
Will be exciting to see how it all turns out. _____________________

How do we know it's called Gaeta? The sims aren't named yet, so they have Gaeta and a number, like the unnamed Corsica sims. _____________________

I think of land as a clear palette, where it's up to the owner to be imaginative. LL shouldn't have to terraform the creativity for us in advance.
No matter what kind of land LL makes, there will be huge choruses of criticisms over it. For what it's worth, my most profitable parcels (the ones that rent very fast and stay rented) are the all-water ones that I've dressed up in various ways to look like impassable granite cliffs. I once accidentally ended up with some flat, green, "desirable" land on my new island, but I fixed it fast. |

What if LL is trying to establish varying land values associated with different types of land? For instance, granite, being the least popular, will have a lower value than say waterfront or rich grassy land? Could LL be trying to establish a means so that everyone can afford something somewhere?
Just pondering... _____________________

No, my gess is just to make a nice big image, and that means some diversity in landscape, even if that means that some parcels may be less popular and therefore cheaper than others. If you want most regions split in 4 flat quaters with 2 crossong roads of water trough the center, just go to one of the large groups of private sims, like Anshe`s, here diversity and value is handled differently. But large continents long for a more natural big image. |
