I have a pair of eyes I bought from Soda that have suddenly developed a glitch - when I put them on rather than seeing the texture they are completely black. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I contact the creator?

hmmm... that sounds wierd. Have you tried relogging and clearing your cache? Rebaked textures?
Sometimes helps me.
Does this problem happen with any other items? I presume the eyes aren't supposed to be like this lol.
I would speak to the creator, see if he/she has had any problems with this in the past - they may be able to give you some advice or replace the item. Though this does depend on their policy.
Contacting them can't really hurt though.

Yes I'd try rebaking textures first (ctrl+alt+r). It sometimes takes a minute or two to work. Then go into edit appearance mode for a minute. Then clear cache and relog. If none of that works, you should definitely contact the creator.

Under edit appearance and then eyes, try turning lightness/darkness all the way towards light. I've had this problem and this resolved it. Crossing my fingers it works for you.

There's a dual monitors bug that maks avatar textures go block, swap your primary and seconadry monitor plugs around and then software swap them back as well

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. My favorite eyes just went black, and no amount of cache clearing or rebaking would fix them. Since they came in a "veinless" version, which were fine, I thought perhaps the problem eyes had become corrupted, so I bought a brand new set. Same problem with a brand new pair of eyes!

So I gave up and my eyes went veinless for a few days. Then while showing the problem to a freind, I rebaked and... poof! Perfect eyes.

I don't know why they went black, I don't know why they came back to normal. And of course I searched these forums for a solution, but didn't find anything. So if you do find a cure, please remember to post it here. If not, I suggest waiting a few days and try rebaking again.

i have had this problem a few times lately too. i think it's a new "ruthing" problem, because i seem to be ruthed temporarily first. i get unruthed, but the eyes stay black.

i have relogged and rebaked to no avail... but then, just randomly, a relog or rebake fixes it.

i have not yet detected a pattern for correcting the issue.

I've heard of reports of this from others. Try contacting the seller.

Well, rebaking and relogging didn't do anything yesterday but this morning I logged in, eyes still black, rebaked again and poof, eyes look fine again. Very strange, and very creepy! Thanks everyone for the input!

This happens every now and then. It has something to do with not being able to access the portion of the central asset store on the server side that has the eye texture. There is nothing you can do about it but it is a temporary problem, and as you noticed, usually only lasts for a day or less.
