Hello. Is there a way to stop my avatars eyes from moving? I'm trying to take a series of closeup photos and want my eyes to be fixed in the same position in each, however the eyeballs keep rolling around and side to side. I've checked the client menu and did a brief search, but failed to come up with anything.

Thanks :)

Use an alt. Make your model look at a rezzed cube or something off camera. Then take pics with your alt.

this is the most difficult aspect to taking pictures of yourself.

The easiest way would be to have someone else take the picture or else log in on multiple accounts and take it. Since your eyes move because you are changing the camera around.

Hopefully someone else knows a better way.

I never thought of fixing my cam and then using an alt. Yay, the forum saved the day again :)

Thanks guys!

I've never had to go to that much trouble, but it's a very workable idea.

The av gets bored if the mouse doesn't move, and then the eyes return to straight ahead again, with only a little fidgeting. I usually just set up my camera angle and wait for a few seconds. Then when the shot looks good ctrl+alt+s.

If that frame doesnt' turn out good I leave the camera control box in place, move the cursor onto the 'snapshot' button and wait. It only takes ... maybe ... five seconds for the digital airhead to forget about the movement and look straight ahead again.

... I always kinda imagine that he's scratching his butt while it's off frame, but that's off-topic.

Fixing my camera on an object and then using my alt to take the shot kept the slight head swaying from occurring, but the eyes did still move a little...so then I did what Drivin said and just waited till it looked right. It all worked out and was quick and easy.

fixing focus on am object and swinging the cam around that object usually works... also if you focus the cam on yourself and swing around you'll look straight forward

One way is to use the Freeze Frame checkbox when you take your picture.

With that checked, get everything positioned like you want, then press control S. Now you can move the camera around with the entire scene frozen.

I hate the stupid way it makes a stupid fake picture drop down for no reason that I can see but it does let you move the camera around without the avatar's eyes moving.

Hmm, with the alt technique, if the subject fixes on a box by pressing the Alt key, can the photographer alt mov the box to determine what way the subject's eyes look?

So far, my fellow avatars, the plan is working. You see? They think we are airheads, never once making the connection that while they loose control during teleport we're the ones shoving those ridiculous wigs and too large shoes up our fundaments. You may think me reckless in posting this, but in their arrogance they will only believe it a joke from one of their own kind. Soon we will go much farther, but we must bide our time. Stay the course! Death to the puppeteers!

You could of course try wearing sunglasses, or get some prim eyes...... but the other solutions posted here are much better !

Did I miss anyone else mentioning that when you alt-click yourself your eyes point straight ahead and stay that way? ;)

Also, if you want yours eyes somewhere else, you can alt-click something in that direction, they'll point there, now you can also add shift+ctrl to pan your camera view away from that spot back to your AV, and just alt+ctrl to rotate it's view to frame your shot however you want! :) Works great for couples or shots with a bunch of friends too (just remember to use /0 when chatting so your AV doesn't bend over or arms move while others are clicking away), oh and Quiet Snapshot in the debug menu (client menu now?) stops the animation from happening too!

I've been looking at how to contril the gaze of my avatar for snapshots. Now I know how.

i use a combination of the alt/click and the waiting, both come out fine in the end.
didnt know about the freeze thing though..
you could also get a models pose stand and use it ...

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.
