Funny, I never played Greedy-Greedy for payout, in fact I didn't know it could. The game is brilliantly addictive without.
Yes, we have one of those at the Hangout in Allana as well as its big brother On-A-Roll. Before I put them out I checked with the redoubtable Karsten Rutledge to check if his games were compliant with the ban. They are when installed without debit permissions. It isn't that some skill is required, it is the element of chance (rolling dice) that make the game illegal if it pays out. |

It isn't that some skill is required, it is the element of chance (rolling dice) that make the game illegal if it pays out. This makes no sense at all. Each round of Zyngo brings 5 new randomly generated numbers which creates an element of chance although it does require skill as well. So how in the world can Zyngo be legal but not Greedy? They are both games that require skill but also have an element of chance. _____________________

It appears that Zyngo is illegal as well*. It also appears that enforcement - removal of games in SL - has been spotty and inconsistent.
Note that these games are not simply against LL's rules, they are currently illegal under the US SAFE Port Act of 2006.** Whether the Lindens are successful at removing illegal games doesn't remove the legal burden from you. Technically speaking, you would have to report any winnings on your 1040; practically speaking is anyone's guess. */327/79/203896/1.html **http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_Port_Act |

Pay the Piggy???
10-14-2007 19:45
I was on an Island the other night and noticed Devil May Care (I belive its called-like slingo) being played. So I asked the host if it was ok to play it now and I was told as long as they pay the Piggy its ok.
I look and they have a piggy standing there and when they ask for people to pay the piggy the piggy automatically sends the L's to the board. When the game is over the people get paid and oh they still of course are reminding people to put in 20% into the piggy Now I'm thinking doesnt that make the piggy a middle man of sorts and isnt that still gambleing? The host said that as long as the piggy is paying noone is doing anything wrong. I think they are just delusional thinking LOL. Ok maybe not delusional but I believe they are still gambleing. Am I wrong? |

I believe they are still gambling. Am I wrong? ``(1) Bet or wager.--The term `bet or wager'-- ``(A) means the staking or risking by any person of something of value upon the outcome of a contest of others, a sporting event, or a game subject to chance, upon an agreement or understanding that the person or another person will receive something of value in the event of a certain outcome; ``(B) includes the purchase of a chance or opportunity to win a lottery or other prize (which opportunity to win is predominantly subject to chance); ``(C) includes any scheme of a type described in section 3702 of title 28; ``(D) includes any instructions or information pertaining to the establishment or movement of funds by the bettor or customer in, to, or from an account with the business of betting or wagering; Please understand that I'd be the last person to narc out someone's attempt to circumvent the UIEGA (or any victimless crime for that matter). But I am interested in helping people understand which laws they might be breaking. |

Hi there!
The sub-gaming activities are hard to implement now-a-days. Since the gambling ban (Gambling was banned because it affilates with real life laws, due to the currency exchange) alot of clubs and gambling areas have closed down. However you can tred off of other people's ideas and make a gambling based system, without currency! An idea that was recently proposed was the giving of PRIZES rather than money. These prizes being non-transferable. You could have a card table, or a slot machine, anything like a normal gambling facility, only instead of a coin jackpot, its a prize jackpot on differant scales (Smaller winnings = smaller prizes) I hope I helped out! _____________________
