Are there any D&D or fantasy fans on here?

Because i like stuff like Dungeons and Dragons and fantasy,and today i got harrassed at a certain place for casting a spell. Am i the only one in SL who likes fantasy and D&D?

Was this in a D and D or Fantasy Roleplay area or just out in general. Someone who isn't into D and D may not appreciate a spell being cast. What do you mean by harrassed?

Well.....first of all.....SL is not by definition a role play 'game'. It's a virtual world where people have set up certain regions for RP.....but there's a lot more going on in SL then just people pretending to be fantasy characters. There's real life business and commerce....there's universities that use SL as a virtual campus, non-profit organizations that use SL as a way to promote awareness and raise funds.....there's regions designated for vampires, gorean, midevil, sci-fi, horror....you name it.

So.....the first thing you need to do is find a group that is a fantasy role play you'd enjoy, visit the region/sim and if you're interested, join and get involved. But as a general rule....the people you encounter in SL on a day to day basis just wandering around.....are NOT role playing anything.....except maybe being in a relationship So if you just randomly try and cast spells....yeah, you're gonna get some funny looks or maybe some giggles from others who are simply not into that stuff.

Axle, search for and join the group Medi-Fantasy Events. That's a good starting place for finding all sorts of places and groups for fantasy roleplay. Lots of notices -- lots and lots of notices, actually, so many you'll probably want to leave the group after you've found a few places you like, just to keep your sanity intact.

I would also put in a suggestion to check out Incorrigible. They do medieval fantasy roleplaying there and it's pretty successful.

Do you realize that *fantasy* encompasses a very large spectrum of stuff -- not just "doing magic"

SL as a whole is not defined as a Role Playing environment, so doing spells and other such stuff cannot just be done anywhere. Find a place that is specific to what you are wanted to do.
