That's very similar to the new machine my Resident Geek just built for me (well, us. I have to let him use it sometimes for video editing and stuff).
It ROCKS with SL.
I asked the Geek if he had any specific comments on your components. He said,
1. Don't rely on the stock heatsink and cooler. I used a Monsoon Vigor II, and it is quiet and wonderful and ENORMOUS, so make sure there is room for it. Zalman makes a good cooler too.
2. I don't like Corsair memory. Just a personal bias after getting several bad sticks. I like Crucial or Samsung or OCZ.
3. Get more power. 420 watts isn't enough, especially if you're using two video cards in SLI mode. Get 700 watts or more.
4. Why ARE you using SLI? From what I hear, it doesn't help SL much, but if you are playing other games, go ahead with it. I'm not sure if two 9800 cards, or one of the newer 260 or 280 cards is the better buy. Anything from an 8800 on up will run SL very well.
5. Get a bigger hard drive, they're cheap. And get a second hard drive. It's great for backup, or for storing big video files, and keeping your pagefile and cache on another drive speeds things up a bit. I put in a 720 GB drive as the system and program drive, and two more 720's in a RAID 0 for storing large media files.
6. The motherboard I used, an EVGA X58, has a "Dummy Overclock" setting in the BIOS. It's an easy one-click way to get your CPU up to the same speed as the more expensive 965 model.
7. The one problem I had was networking. Not internet connection, but seeing other computers on our network. It turns out that Windows Vista isn't compatible with a lot of older routers. I have a new gigabit Ethernet wireless router on order that I hope will fix the problem.

From: Ciera Spyker i dont know - have it shipped to my home and i'll try it for a few years to see. Good idea, then if it's no good...you can have it. I just know I am tired of my lap top for SL. But if this change in adult policy goes through, i may not want a new computer for SL anyway and this is all moot. BT
