Mega prim height to block map view?

At what height do you need to put a simsized mega prim so that the map view doesn't show all your structures? It easily blocks the minimap , all you see is a single "blue" prim but on the map view you can still see all the structures.

I don't know of an actual height needed, but I've placed prims as low as 400m for that effect in the past.

It depends on the person's draw distance.. a prim being on the mini map basically means you could see that prim if you were looking toward it (no particular height can make it appear on the mini map regardless of where you are)

Edit: whoops I don't know where I got mini map from

Thank you. I placed mine at 500m and it didn't appear to be working. I appreciate it.

On the "regular map" I beleive the draw ceiling is somewhere between 350 and 400m. prims above that don't show on the regular/slurl map, prims below that do.

It may take several days/weeks before the map gets updated for your region.

Just out of curiosity, why would someone want to do that? Not have the structures show up on the map

Think of the question in reverse..

"How high does my skybox have to be, so that it doesn't show on the map?"

There are many reasons why someone might want their builds NOT to show on a map.. especially if they have a nice ground-level store, but they also want to have a private home, workshop, or an RP-area that doesn't show up.

Also interesting to note, at least the Cool Viewer for SL shows the minimap altitude marker anyone over 1024m up, as being underground.

Also..

"How high can a gigantic prim logo be (or, how low must it be?), and still show up on the map?"

Or maybe they built a hedge maze.

Place the blocking prim above your other stuff, but below 300-400m and it will work.

After you place your object(s), remember that it seems to sometimes take many days/weeks for the map image to update.
