Hmm, the land store upgrade this week allows people to put islands nextto other owners by the looks, the little people can now band together and make some new minicontinents :)
Openspace continent anyone? :)

I so hope LL takes steps to ensure Openspaces are going to be used for what they were intended tho as people that have Openspaces for the use they were intended for wont get lagged out by some selfish idiot using them to run clubs, stores, or live on :)

it is a nice step forward alowing sailing groups, forest lovers and family groups to easely co-operate to make mini contenent using a mixture of full and openspace sims, still I doubt you will get more openspace groups then you do now because every owner of an openspace sim needs one full sim at least.

now if they make it cheaper and automated to move sims to another grid position we will see even more estate owners grouping together for large projects and make it easier for mini continents to expand, I'm sure many estate owners wishing to expand felt the frustration when they wanted to add a sim to one side of an existing sim but not being able to because another sim was to close and moving the group of sims was simply to expencive.

Yeah would be cool if people with similar themed RP sims can move together, like Stargate, or medievil themed

Unless the openspaces were deserted most of the time you wouldn't want to be the one in the middle who's stuck with child agents from the other 8 surrounding sims.

Where do you see this? I just looked in the land store and it doesn't let me place an island next to someone else's islands. The FAQ also says it's not possible:
From: FAQ
Can someone place a Region next to me without my permission?
The Land Store will not allow anyone else to place another island touching yours (even diagonally) without your permission.

I could imagine a lot of existing island owners would be unhappy to have someone else's region pop up unexpectedly next to theirs.

What is allowed is you can now, as a sim owner, specify a list of named individuals who have permission to place a new sim right next to yours, or corner to corner with yours. It was in the blog this last week.

So Sam has the Samtopia Sim, and he can specify that Gracie has permission to place a sim in one of the 8 spaces that touch Samtopia. She places her new Gracieland sim side by side with Samtopia, and adds sam onto HER list of people that can be adjacent to Gracieland. They can both now place sims in any of the 10 remaining spaces that border their two joined sims, even though the sims are seperately owned and are seperate Estates. But no one else can just plunk one down next to them. It's not an open invitation to all comers. It's a specific permissions list, by name.

Before this change, the same thing could still be done, but required a help desk support ticket for each new sim's placement, with both parties agreeing to the placement of the new sim(s).

I had allowed this once long ago but, the 5 different ego's came into play that I sold my hub island. So, do so but remember time can change people :)

As someone who does this, yes, it's not as easy as it sounds :)

Sounds like a great tool for the land store, but I'd advise turning on the feature only for a few minutes as desired during a purchase and leaving it off most of the time.

Ok that makes lots more sense - thanks for the clarifications. :)

I played around in the new land store and it's actually a very nice improvement. I *love* that you can now jump directly to a spot based on either region name or grid location. The old one was a bit of a PITA having to scroll around, wait for the map to resolve, then click a square to get an idea of where you were looking.

I also love the fact that it lists regions, bill dates, and bill amounts. If they could only fold that into the 'My Account' page, then it would be almost perfect.

Too bad there's not a chance in heck that I'll be buying new islands.
