Can't Log In, Anyone Else Have The Problem?

About an hour ago I started getting a red network and sever light on the lag meter. When this happens I relog and usually this fixes the problem. This time I cannot log in at all. It stalls on the login window. I cleared the cache, but this didn't help either. I've tried many times since I first tried to relog. Does anyone else have this problem?

So now I finally can log in, but the piece I made that was attached doesn't show in my inventory. I copied the name right from the edit window. It was attached to me but not in the position I placed it before I had all this trouble. I tried relogging...it's gone. Now I have to make it all over again. GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

After having all that problems yesterday, I also had problems with my mouse I forgot to mention. Or at least I thought it was my mouse. When I clicked on something, anything, sometimes it won't grab or select it...as in moving edit tabs or when moving the camera. The mouse seems to work ok out side of SL though.

So today I logged on and still have this problem with my mouse. I really don't think it's the mouse. I took it apart and cleaned it. I think SL is not working right. I don't see any red lights on the lag meter tho.

Has anyone else has this problem?

I'd start with turning your system, computer, modem, router, etc. completely off for a few minutes.

More information about your system would be useful.

What kind of internet service do you have?

Are you networked? Wired or wireless? What is the brand and model of modem and router?

What kind of computer?
What operating system?
Upgrade level of operating system? (SP1, SP2, etc.)
What processor?
How much ram?
What kind of video?
How much video ram?
What is the exact version of video driver?

Stuff like that.

I'll turn the system again, but I did that a few days ago..unplugged for a storm.
I'm on a wired Microsoft MN100 base station router, one other PC on it.

Internet: Cable 5mb

My PC specs:
Mother Board:Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe motherboard - updated the BIOS to 2001
OS: XP Pro 32 bit
Service Pack: SP2
Processor: AMD 6000+ dual core
RAM: 4Gb PC2 800 - 3.3Gb available - re:32bit XP
Video Card: Nvidia 8800GTS 512Mb uses G92 chip
video drive:175.16whql GeForce WinXP 32bit English , which I just updated the other day.

Everything worked find then yesterday all the problems started after getting red lights on network and server on the lag meter.

Having a problem to login

Hi Layla,
Have you figured out how to connect to your account, because I have been having a problem trying to connect to mine. I just joined SL recently and I haven't had the chance to try it. I would appreciate it if you would share the knowledge.

Thanks

Fernnando, your inability to log in could be for a completely different reason than Layla's...what message are you getting when you try?

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

The error says

"Unable to connect to Second Life
Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong

Please Check www.secondlife.com/status
to see if there is a known problem with the service"

Sometimes that message is temporary and, if you keep trying, it'll let you in. If not, which viewer version are you using, 1.19 or 1.20? And are your video drivers up to date?

I'm getting the "high traffic, you're screwed" sorta error message, and cant' get in.

I am now officially ready to support a traffic threshold at which bots are ejected, and perhaps even another higher threshold at which premium accounts can log in while freebs cannot. Some suggest that we need to provide more of an incentive for freebs to become premium. There's one.

Dont worry, the lindens are simply improving the grid's stability by taking it offline and freezing services.

Completely normal and expected. This is how it is done in every other online game. And you know Thursday mid-day US time is a VERY high traffic time and concurrency of 60K and up are expected.

In times like this the asset server shuts down and we even lose access to our linden money accounts but I assure you this is completely normal and expected.

We just have to be patient and give lindens some time to restabilize the grid by kicking everyone logged in off and restarting the servers in a rolling restart.

In the meantime we have the forums to keep each other company and stay warm or cool depending where you are my sweethearts....

LOL
