First, the beta grid is a lot smaller, so the ISP issues would be smaller. Second, I believe that all the beta grid servers are in the California data center; if the ISP problem is at the Texas data center or in the link between the two, it would not affect the beta grid.

You can also log in without downloading the beta client. What you need to do is to add the command line parameter to choose the Aditi grid.
On Windows, what you do is create a new shortcut to Second Life. Then add the following to the command line for the shortcut (those are copied from the shortcut for the beta viewer): --aditi -helperuri http://preview-aditi.secondlife.com/helpers/ -settings settings_beta.xml Voila, you're in, and with a more up to date viewer than the current beta grid one, and without having to wait for a big download. You can do similar things with the Mac and Linux viewers also. |
