I have asked several people for help with this and they say that they've never heard of it. I was using a skin (expensive) that I just purchased and for some reason today selected on another skin. This is the one that now shows in my "edit appearance" screen. However, this skin is actually an amalgamation of both skins and in my inventory it shows that both skins are being worn and I don't have to option to remove one of the skins. I would dearly like some help with this. I've cleared my cache and even uninstalled SL and reinstalled it again. Please help .... as well, I don't want to delete the purchased skin but the one that somone gave me a long time ago...the one that's in the edit appearance screen ...well, i haven't been able to delete that skin. Help pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

1) Clear your cache, then try again.
2) Try wearing a third skin (freebie or from the library), then switch back to your main one
Good luck!

Hi Mereleigh, welcome to the forums!
This sort of weirdo skin corruption problem happens every once in a while. It sometimes is not cured by getting another copy of the skin! Here's 3 simple things to try:
1. Tweak the shape you're wearing just a little bit, and resave it. Sometimes your basic avatar gets a little borked, and editing it resaves and straightens things out.
2. Perhaps your avatar, not the skin, has become more seriously corrupted. Starting over with a new avatar is easy. FIrst make sure you know the names of your shape, skin, eyes etc., then go to:
Client > Character > Character Tests > Test female
This will give you the default female avatar. Log off. I would delete the cache file at this time.
Log in and put all your normal look back on.
3. If that doesn't fix it, then perhaps your local texture baking has something borked in your video card's local memory (a "flattened" prebaked version of your avatar is uploaded from the client to the server, so everyone would see the problem). I'm not sure how the menus for this work in Windlight, but in older clients you'll see in one of the Graphics preferences screens a box for "composite layers", which is normally set to 5. Set it to 2 and relog. Hang out for a minute or so. Then set it to what you want and relog again. That should clear out any gunk.
Good luck!

Hi Everyone, Thank you very much for the great suggestions. I found out where the problem was.... I think, so far it looks okay. I didn't realize that shape and skin were two different things. I had saved my avatar shape as NewBodyJan29 and I added the new skin I bought to that shape. Then today went everything went haywire, I changed the shape to one that I had been given a long time ago but still had the same skin (the new one that I purchased recently). So the new skin was on an olddddddddddd shape. I was rifling through my inventory and found the NewBodyJan29 and added the new skin i bought and voila! I appear to be normal again As normal as I can be I suppose Thanks for the wonderful suggestions... I really appreciate it very very much. mereligh Miles
