I want to open a first time business in SL. I know what I want to sell and believe I have a good product. Have a marketing plan. Now here is my dilema. With all the mall space out there what are indicators of a good site. Sure no or few open stores for rent but how do u get a handle on foot traffic? Have done searching on rent versus prims allowed and found that about 3 - 5 lindens a prim is common depending on locations.

So before I pull the trigger appreciate your thoughts.

I think researching the mall owner is more important than picking a "premium" location. You don't want to find yourself kicked out for no reason because the owner's a scam artist.

Location can matter somewhat...for example, if you're next door to a hugely popular store. But in general, with everyone getting around by teleporting, location isn't all that relevant. Getting yourself a good search ranking, and writeups in the appropriate blogs, is much more useful.

I have FREE space in my mall for a vendor with 15 prims. I may kick you out but I always give fair warning. Contact me inworld. Good luck with your search.

One further thing to add here...
high weekly rental cost is no indication of the malls popularity. In fact, I treat them with caution. There are a few malls around that charge approx $250 for 100prim, which is a good price per prim. They're hard to find, but are worth it.

I lied... here's a second thing. In addition to your shop, sell on Onrez & SLExchange. Both are free and rather popular. You may not sell much, but your business name is seen.
