I have an unfurnished apartment and I am limited to 50 prims. How do know how many prims I have used?

Right click on the object,choose edit. In the very first tab it will tell you how many prims the object is.

An easy way to catch all your objects is to go into the Tools menu (I believe it is), and check ”Select only my objects”. Then, with the edit dialog open, drag a selection box over the entire area. (This is, by the way, also a good way to catch objects lost inside walls or underground).
