I arrived at my garden today to find several roof portions of the arcades and both stair landings gone!! The build is several months old. They weren't in my Lost and Found folder which isn't surprising since they're on my lot. I don't think I accidentally deleted them because--get this--the missing pieces are separated in space, not linked and.....eerily symmetrical!! I'm totally    at this point. Does this just happen?

Yes, is the easy answer. I let someone else cover the long explanation.

Ceera had this happen with a build in the initial test phase for Havok4 - you might send her an IM to see how she got it resolved.

Is this group-owned land? If so, were the items that poofed set to the group or owned by the parcel owner?

A couple weeks ago, my mainland sim had a "cascading object return" go through the entire region and eat all owner-owned objects..

The objects were all set to the group that owns the land as far as I can tell. Would briefly going over my prim limit do this? I know I'm close at this point and I may have rezzed a few too many.

Also, I don't know if this means anything, but there's a house over my neighbor's land that wasn't there before. I haven't spoken with her so I don't know if it's her skybox moved closer to the ground which is not allowed in our sim or what's going on.

Yesterday I had one prim vanish from a build. Ordinarily I'd just figure I'd somehow accidentally deleted it (most of the build is locked, but ya know: stuff happens). Can't find it in Lost+Found nor Trash, and I don't often delete stuff by accident. So... maybe. (It was one of those carved-up 32x32x40 megaprims, but there's another the same size right beside it, so I don't think it's H4 being fussy about megaprims, particularly.)

Certainly not a prim limit in my case, but I don't think the trigger for the OP's problem can be prim limits, unless those limits have decreased due to changing land ownership. Otherwise, I think you just can't rez over the limit.

I periodically find portions of my work platform don't rezz for me It is made up of 6 sets of 9prims, linked into a 30m x 30 m object, each object being locked to make it harder for me to delete it by accident. Its usually an entire object that fails to rezz visually. I can still walk across the missing portions, as if they are there, but they are not visible and cannot be selected. Clearing my cache this last time made the missing set reappear the next time I logged in.

When the RUCE 3 sim (Rutgers University stadium) went to the Havok 4 early adopter program, large chunks of the stadium simply vanished without a trace. The entire build was LOCKED, and the sim wasn't even vaguely close to prim limit. (Less than 3000 prims in the whole sim, as I recall). A few chunks did end up in my lost and found, but as I had already transferred ownership of the build to the sim owner, I couldn't rez a number of those pieces.

We literally used a sim rollback to fix it, I am afraid. LL restored the pre-havok server state, and left it as a non-Havok 4 sim until much later.

None of my builds seem to have been adversely affected by this latest sim-wide update to Havok 4, but I haven't checked all of them personally, as yet. That is a LOT of sims to visit and check...

It used to be that if you somehow got a parcel over it's prim limit, the sim would return things. Not sure how it determined how it chose what to return, though - probably things not set to the group (if it's group land) then things that were sat on then maybe by time.

A favorite club of mine had the owner go AFK for like 8 months, leaving the place without autoreturn. There were a number of us who would create objects and set them to the group then drag them onto the land when people would leave litter there. Usually just the litter would go away but I seem to remember some group things poofing, too.

AFAIK, objects that the sim whacked were always returned. (except of course for group-deeded objects - they can never be returned and trying to return one will delete it)

Had something similar happen today at a building class: Was right near the end of my build...all going well...did a shift/copy of a prim, then linked the others together as directed and...the entire build ~except~ the unlinked one poofed! Nowhere to be found in inventory...not in trash, lost and found, did a search on the names of the parts...just...gone into the SL bit bucket in the sky.

/sighs
