So, I saw a few yachts today on SL Exchange that was like 500 prims or something. I was really thinking that these would absolutely rock to have a party or something with my friends. I dont own land myself, so my question is, would you have to own land to rezz something this large? Are there places you can go to use objects this large? One of the yachts was driveable, but does that mean only if you own a piece of property large enough to support that many prims? Allysa =^.^=

There are places where you could rez such a thing, but I would not advise it without consulting the owner of the land.. You are going to be using a lot of prims.. As far as sailing it, well that would be very risky.. First sim you sailed into that would not support that many prims being added is going to start deleting prims.. either your yacht starts to vanish, or the land owner is going to have things deleted.. Either way not good.

Yes you need your own land..if you are driving one you would be better off with your own sim. Driving large water vessels on the main grid on land you do not own may work in some places but typically you will bump into parcels that may not allow object entry or do not allow entry period. You can try, but I doubt it would be very enjoyable.
I recommend renting some land (beachfron possibly) and having your party that way. You can get a feel for the yacht and have some fun without any long term commitments.

Open sim estates would be ideal for this.
