I may have missed this, but why do clothing designers make their clothes no transfer now? I can see hair, and skins and shapes being no transfer, but clothing? I used to share my clothes with my sisters and friends, ya know like in RL? but now i can't. So thanks for making things a lil less like RL. Good job

With inventory loss sometimes being rampant, or you simply don't even receive the item you purchased, it's a whole lot easier for me to fork it over to you, rather than worry about being scammed outta stuff. Plus, you can make multiple outfits, mix and match

There are people who have different avs and put clothing in the same folder as matching skins and hair and eyes and all that. Also, in the case of tintable/modable clothes, people don't want to lose the original. In order to accommodate for that, clothing designers make their clothes copyable. In order to not lose money, then, you can't make them transferable.

The only reason I make my clothes copy/mod/no transfer is because if you mess something up you always have another copy of it. If it was no copy/mod/transfer then you wouldn't! This mainly applies to outfits that have prims

As a designer I have always made everything transferable if I can help it. There are some items where it's just logical to have them as copyable/no transfer, especially when it comes to hair, skins... like you said, also vehicles and such that can be lost when crossing sim boundaries.. but clothing... I never seen a reason for it. The only thing I can suggest is to be careful when shopping, often times I see something cute and want to buy it for friend, and later find out that it's no transfer... so I am stuck with a male outfit or something I would never use personally =/ Most designers that sell no transfer put up signs or label them clearly, so I guess it's my own fault not paying attention lol

I'm going with the first three posts on why I set my clothing as copy/mod and no transfer.
1. A lot of my clothing use prim attachments, which are going to need adjustment to fit various shapes. Less experienced builders can and will break the piece in their attempts, so to save them the embarrassment of having to ask me for another copy (and having to explain WHY), I make it copy/no trans. Just pull out another copy and keep going, which is a time saver for everyone.
2. I create things I like and I like creating outfits. This means the clothing needs to be copy for the various looks I feel like wearing. So, when I make clothing, I set them that way too.
3. SL tends to eat inventories from time to time. It's much easier for the customer to make storage copies of the items and for me to send on copies, without feeling like the item is just being requested for resale or something.
For me, the saving of time and hassle for the customer is the big selling point on why I do it.. not to mention, it leaves me freer to create!
