I was contacted today to assist with finding some UK-based content creators for a short educational film as part of a series being prepared for Science so What?, a UK Direct Gov educational website.
Science So What?
The film itself will be between 3 and 5 minutes length and the filming will take 1 day. The main focus of the film is skills learning and application not just in Second Life but in a more generalised '3D web' scenario.
The type of content creators that would be suitable would be:
1) Scripters [programming skills].
2) Graphics designers [photoshop type skills].
3) 3D builders [3DS Max, Maya, Blender, etc., skills].
4) Animators [Poser, Avimator, etc., skills].
You should ideally have professional-level aptitude within your field and will be asked to demonstrate and discuss your current-day work as well as discussing how your skill set can be applicable to an evolving 3D web environment beyond the constrains of 'walled gardens' such as Second Life or games environments such as as WoW, etc. You will be filmed at work both in your real-world environment and virtual world environment and be expected to demonstrate your work and applications thereof.
The main focus of the website and the series of films is to get school-age kids interested in science and technology as a fun, challenging, stimulating and rewarding activity.
The timescale is rather short. The entire series is due by the end of this month and the film relating to avatars and virtual worlds must be filmed by 25th Jan at the very latest. Please contact me with a brief note about yourself and what aspects of content creation you are involved in. I will pass on your details and you will be contacted in due course.
Thank you.
