Emerald viewer has a make avatar phantom feature. It works but you can't sit on anything while phantom........actually, I don't think you can do any animations or poses with it.

The OP asked for non-physical, not phantom....

And the answer is no, your avatar is always physical. If you're looking for a way to keep from being pushed, there's a number of devices that can be worn that will lock you in position, or, you can just sit on something which links your avatar to it and you cannot be pushed.

Use a non-physical vehicle, that makes it still look like you're walking around, even though you're actually "riding a vehicle". The Mystitool can rez an invisible non-physical vehicle, and while "riding" it you're immune to being pushed, and you can walk through walls or fly through ceilings and floors as if you were a ghost.

As I recall there's several free scripts in the Script Library and LSL Wiki for non-physical vehicles.

Seconding Ceera. It's a feature of even the free version of Mystitools. It's grand for sandboxes, especially Linden Owned Sandboxes.

One trick I've learned with Emerald, if you are using the built-in AO, is change the ground sit anim to a stand, and then use the sit anywhere feature (CTRL ALT S) and phantom yourself (CTRL ALT P). That leaves you apparently standing but immobile and, effectively, phantom.

It's a useful alternative to the mystitool phantom vehicle, since I've stopped wearing my mystitool all the time since I got Emerald, as the latter gives me most (but not all) the functionality I had with mystitool and it's a lot easier to tp without all those scripts.

It's not being invisible, Jig. Being phantom means that if ill-intentioned folks in sandboxes and the like throw or fire physical objects at you, the objects simply pass through you. You can then explain to the frustrated griefer that whoever sold him his new toy obviously saw him coming, since clearly it's not working, and suggest he goes and demands his money back.

I just got corrected about this being "non-physical" and not about being "phantom". You guys need to get on the same page if you are going to correct someone.

And as far as Emerald is concerned setting yourself to "phantom" does prevent anyone from pushing you (I tested it). I have not tried letting someone shoot at me so I don't know if it prevents damage or not. I do know there are some things you cannot do.....one being you can't sit on anything. The OP clearly asked about making your avatar phantom.........then in the body of the thread he confused the issue with "non-physical".

A clarification is in order if any usful information is going to given since obviously some answers are related to one subject while other answers relate to another subject.

Unless they've fixed it, setting yourself visually phantom with Emerald doesn't stop people pushing you, though it looks as if they can't push you because your visible avatar and your camera remain in the same place until you turn it back off.

Certainly the first (and only) time I tried setting myself to phantom in Emerald without using the "sit anywhere" feature (though I imagine a movelock would do just as well), the chap who kept on ramming into me at the Particle Lab sandbox kept on passing through me, to his great confusion, but when he finally gave up and went away, and I turned "phantom" off, I discovered I was, in fact, on the ground several hundred meters below the Particle Lab.

The only way I can think I got there is that he managed somehow to push me off the platform.

There was a bit of a discussion about this over in the Emerald forum; http://modularsystems.sl/index.php?option=com_agora&task=topic&id=966

It worked for me. But I was not on a platform.........just on the sim ground. It's a gimmick but the OP asked if there was a way. I told him a way using Emerald. Evidently I was mistaken. But be that as it may, my answer was in good faith....and according to my use accurate.

It's a non issue with me anyway. If I think someone is going to try to push me out of some area or shoot me I simply sit. That works all the time.

Oh, I just wanted something that my av could wear (even in a non-rezz area) that would give my av the ablity to walk thru people and vice versa, cos I am making something like a ghost avatar. but that doesn't exist? ):
