Well, this is a bummer...
I've just installed 1.21 only to find that my personalised Windlight settings, carefully made and tweaked over many hours, have all been deleted - presumably overwritten by the new version's folders.
A system restore has failed to recover them.
Any ideas on how to get them back?

Gah. You have my sympathy. I keep a backup of mine - not that you want to hear that right now - but it's useful to do in the future in case something happens.
I presume you've checked any old SLs on yer puter. For instance, the RC has my WL files in it. _____________________

Yes, I've checked all the associated folders... nada. Fortunately I've shared some of my settings with people in the past so I have notecarded some of them... so rather than messing about trying to restore them I'm just setting them all up again. |

It would be good for Windlight settings to be able to survive updates. In my experience, they survive sometimes but get deleted others.

I agree it would be nice to be able to save Settings Profiles.

I'm on a Mac, and I've not once had my Windlight settings survive an update. I know at one point someone posted where the file is so you can save your settings for the PC, but I wasn't able to find the Mac one... It also would have been nice if the drop down box for changing to your settings wasn't so buried.

I would like to be able to keep the current one as default between logins- it's obnoxious to have to choose to return to ur favorite one- unless there is a setting I have missed?

That seems unusual. I've only lost my windlight settings once in all the updates. But what I did learn from that is to keep a back up folder with all my sky & water settings, in case of an accidental purge.
As long as you didn't delete the previous viewer....those settings should be in the secondlife folder under apps....windlight....sky & water. If for some odd reason they really have been canned.....do yourself a favor and copy all your new sky settings to a seperate folder. I have tons if you're interested....I can pass them on. Also, if you grab all Torley's settings off the web site (they are still there, just search Torley's stuff for windlight) you can keep a back-up folder on your desktop.....and just tweek those settings in-world to create your own new ones. That's how I got started and now I probably create a new sky & water just about every time I log in.  |

Thanks Milla... yeah it IS odd, never happened to me before. No sign of the presets in the Second Life folder under Windlight either - or anywhere else for that matter.
Good job I'd recorded the majority of them - it was just a fiddly pain in the bum setting them all back up again. Hey ho! |

Yup...it is a fiddly pain in the bum LOL I'm hoping that eventually they'll come up with a way for us to save a folder of those presets in our inventory.
