newbie question???

Hi, I'm new to second life and considering starting a business of my own. I'm a bit confused about the Linden dollars though. Can someone please tell me how linden dollars is transfered into US dollars. FOR EXAMPLE: If I start a clothing store and someone purchases a dress from my shop, what happens ? Does the linden dollars for that sale go onto my account? Then what do I do if I want to convert my earnings so that I can spend it in the real world?

The Lindens go into your SL account. When you want to cash out the rate of exchange is according to the Linden Exchange............about 265 lindens to each USD.

oh ok, so when I do cash out does the money go onto my credit card or something?

I'm not exactly sure since I've never cashed out but I think you need a PayPal account to cash out to.

It can go to PayPal or you can have a check sent to you.

Nope - it sits in your Linden account until you decide to do something with it. It's the first port of call for any tier or membership charges etc. (only when your Linden $ account is at 0 is your cc billed)

If you want to have your actual hands on the actual filthy lucre, you need to send it to your bank etc account via PayPal, check (cheque) etc- the instructions are straightforward on your account page.

Or if you have a lot of income (read as hundreds of US$ worth of L$ a month) You can have LL send you a check.

There's two ways you can transfer funds from SL to your personal RL Bank Account.

You can ask LL to transfer the SL funds (you need to first convert any L$ to US$ - easily done) directly to your RL Bank Account, however be warned this will incur a HUGE fee (I believe it's at least $100 - I may be wrong, you probably need to check this).

You can transfer the funds from your SL account (you need to first convert any L$ to US$ - easily done) to your PayPal account (quite easy to set up if you havn't already got one), then instruct PayPal to transfer the funds to your personal Bank Account, this will incur a fee but it's relatively small (a few dollars I believe).

If you convert your L$ to US$ and leave it in your SL account you should be aware that those US$ funds will be drawn upon to pay any membership fees or tier fees that are due before LL will draw upon your credit card.
