Camera Controls panel disappeared

Does anyone know how/why this would happen and how to get it back? (Yes, I have gone into the view menu.)

I rely heavily on my control panel for taking pictures and editing and building, and I have been totally lost and darn near incapacitated without my controls.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and even with the new release, I can't get them back.

Can anyone help me????

Thanks much,
Jez

Hi Jezebell, welcome to the forums. :)

When you reinstalled, did you manually delete the SL config folder? That does not happen automatically, so any settings that are messed up will stay messed up.

Before you delete it, remember to make copies of your chat and IM logs (if you log those).

As to what might have caused it... did you recently change the UI size setting in your preferences? Sometimes setting that larger can push things off the screen. You might even try setting that to the lowest setting first (below deleting the config folder), just to see if that makes it visible again. If it does, you can move it to a central point, and then adjust it again after you make the UI size larger again.

Let us know if any of this works... feedback from you gives us the info we need to help others with the same problem in the future. :)

Thanks Ava...

Well, have a MacBook Pro, so I not sure if the setting are the same to do as you suggested.
I have deleted every single file I can find regarding SL, then emptied trash, then downloaded SL anew... still the same problem.

Also tried the settings. I am at a total loss, and fast losing my mind!

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Jez

Maybe you accidentally moved it off screen? Try resizing the UI to make it wider.

I'm on a Mac too, so the settings are the same as mine.

So, when you started the client after deleting the files you found, did it treat you like this was your first time using the client? Giving you tips on how to move around and all that? If not, you didn't delete everything.

The folder you need to delete is in the Library folder, usually the one in your user folder, not the one at root level. The exact path:

/Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/SecondLife

Delete that "SecondLife" folder (copying out your chat logs if you want them), then delete the client and reinstall it fresh. This will be like you are totally starting from scratch, and you should be able to bring up the camera controls from the View menu as usual.

mine often goes off screen to the lower right and the left edge can slightly be seen so I drag it back. Sometimes I've had to change to non-windows mode to find it.

ALL FIXED!
A friend (MY HERO) reminded me about the App Support folder last night when I mentioned to him my issue.

Saved my convos, re-installed SL, got all the newbie stuff (how annoying... lolol) and spent an hour making sure all my preferences were re-set.

Screen advice - tried everything under the sun before I deleted everything and re-downloaded...

Thanks to everyone for their input!
MUCH appreciated!

*hugs
