Can anyone recommend someone (or even know if such a person exists) whom I could commission a vehicle from? I would love a 67 Chevy Impala *Cough* suchafangirl*cough*, and haven't found anyone selling any. If this is possible how much can I expect to pay? And really stupid question coming. I bought a moped, which I've had fun driving around my little plot of land, and around the land at Oakgrove, but I'd really like to explore the network of roads on the mainland, but how do I rez my moped so I can ride it on the roads? The roads are all no build, as is the land surrounding the roads (if ban_access isn't set). Surely there's some way around this?

Not sure who has built a '67 Chevy. I'm sure someone has. Look aroudn and compare for a bit. SEARCH for Cars/Autos/Vehicles. Each will give you some good places.
DoMoCo makes the Dominus Shadow. IMO one of the best cars in SL. It only comes as a Msutang, however, and they don't do custom work to my knowledge.
Average pricing can fluctuate between 1k to 3k. Scripts make teh difference. Look over all features to see what you're getting. Personal opinion is that the "Sim Stop" script is a must. This stops your vehicle at simlines to prevent the more destructive effects of crossing a simline. Others are handling, flight, etc, and are at the descression of the buyer.
I'd talk to see if you could find owners of cars you are intrested in, or IM the shop owners with a polite request for a showing for thier wares.
Also, For the Permissions....COPY is a MUST!!!!!! No Copy, No Buy on vehicles!!! SL is still too unstable on simline crossing to risk a NoCopy vehicle. Such a car will eventually go poof into random pixels.
Last Tip:: Take your time. There is a LOT to SL. What you want exactly, is probably out there. Finding it can be easy or a bit difficult. Keep searching until you find what you want, and don't settle for less.

Why pay money for cars? You can get a free one from one of the nifty new international multi-million-dollar real-life car corporations now paying the very same price for their land in SL and tier as we are! And since they are rolling in enough dough to buy the top classified ads (97k a week) at the same price we do, and more, they're easy to find, too! Go to classified and getcher free car! It's one of the top two listings, either Toyota or Nissan, I forget which. And just wait! Coming soon to an island or mainland sim near you: Free houses! Clothes! Land! Yes, folks, Progress has come for all those who don't Fear Change and can Adapt, Adapt, Adapt! Here's how to adapt: Be a real life company! Take your advertising budget, slice off an infintesimal piece of it, and use that pocket change to pwn SL and all the content creators in it!! Why, it won't cost you any more than it costs those saps who actually work inside of SL, making nothing but pixel products for other players! And hey, give your stuff away! They can't, but JOO CAN! Those poor clods are actually worried about "covering tier." Hahahahahahaha. coco

Jessica, I'm glad you like the Dominus Shadow - a lot of time and hard work went into making that one. You know, you're the first person that I've ever heard refer to it as "DoMoCo" - for some reason it never really caught on so much. I've always kind of liked the "DoMoCo" abreviation Coco, They're not multi-million-dollar companies. They're multi-billion dollar companies Nissan is the one who's giving away a free car - Toyota/Scion has elected to charge L$ for theirs. Speaking personally, I think it might be something good for SL car makers - If people spend more time thinking about cars, hopefully everyone will benefit. Having all the ships rise with the water, so to speak

The roads are all no build, as is the land surrounding the roads (if ban_access isn't set). Surely there's some way around this? The easiest way to get around this is to look around for a private piece of land (that is, not owned by Governor Linden) where building is enabled, rez your vehicle there, and then use edit to move it over onto the road. It might take some looking in certain areas, but there's almost always a suitable plot somewhere near. Just don't be alarmed if the vehicle goes a little nuts when it crosses a sim border, and you get thrown off and have to get back on-- that's a common thing. I like to rez a bike or a motorcycle at one end of a long road and see how far I can ride. Have fun!

Actually, I checked them both - on one of them, the cars are L$300 each. On the other, they're free, but you have to IM someone for a PIN number to actually recieve one. And both of those sims were built by SL residents.

So, if I understand correctly, you have beg someone for a PIN number to get a free car. Mr Carrot, meet Madame Stick.

1397 - the code for the vending machine at nissan island (last time i tried, albiet a few weeks ago)
i like to take my nissan and run it around the corp islands - just get it going and hit "e" a few times till you get into turbo nutter gear - you can cross sims in no time - if you get stuck (which happens er quite a lot) just get out take your nissan back and move a bit to where you can wreak havoc again with a corporate monster
i have yet to be able to drive it through the plate glass at sony...

And both of those sims were built by SL residents. I believe both of those sims were built by companies with residents in them. For - from $10k to $100k and over U.S. dollars. Companies such as Electric Sheep Company, Millions of Us, and Rivers Run Red, contract to do these jobs. I'm not sure which company did which job in the case of the two multi-billion dollar car companies. Individuals in these developing companies are residents, and - correct me if I'm wrong - Lindens, and/or residents-turned-Lindens. These companies also provide services to other non-SL companies for non-SL jobs. Thus they should also be charged commercial rates for lands they use as headquarters for these businesses. coco
