Get Linux or stay with Win XP. If you have Virusta and are too scared of Linux then upgrade.

I have heard nothing but positive reports about windows 7 and running SL.. And Windows 7 and running everything.. I will be upgrading to 7 in the next couple of weeks my self.. So i can go to other Virtual worlds and help them promote. Since Sl has taken a bunch of wrong turns lately.. laffs

I've been running Win7 64 bit for a month now - no probs with Emerald SL and stand-alone OpenSim works a dream too so I'm happy as Larry.

Best ask him to see how happy that is................

My experience with Windows 7 has been a negative one. We had it clean installed, with the appropriate updated drivers. It worked a treat for a few days - Second Life didn't crash - worked the best I'd ever seen.

Then coloured squares started appearing all over the screen and it seems like Windows 7 has pushed the graphics card too hard and it's broken. Before installing 7, look on the net to see the number of problems people have been posting - there are a lot!

So, in summary, SL should work very well with Windows 7 but it might knock out your graphics card.

You might try updating the video drivers from the card manufacturer's site, hopefully that would be nVidia or ATI.

System specifications for your computer might help give better advice.

There have been a number of reports of people having problems with SL after installing Windows 7. Most seem to be solved with proper drivers.

If you have an Nvidia graphics adapter, go to Nvidia.com to update it.

If it's ATI, go to ATI.com. If you have an older ATI graphics adapter, you may need to use the Vista drivers. If you have an ATI HD series AGP graphics adapter, go to the manufacturer's web site.
