Ive been finding more commonly these days that stores have real live store assistants. Not the dummy/bot type.. Im curious about store owners who hire these people...are they trained? Do you give them your range (for attire) to try and demo to customers etc.. In recent days I have two very diffferent experiences with store assistants (much like r/l i guess!!) 1) Enter well known store thats empty..store assisitant fires off greeting gesture at me..I ask to be shown where the new product is I saw on xstreet. This store has many different little stores over a sim..so I thought best course of action was to ASK...wronggg...I traipsed around after this person...who didnt have a clue what it was I wanted (even though i explained in detail and gave the xstreet web page with the item shown) Eventually I was told "good luck finding that" and she left...me....in the skin dept. 2) Enter well known boot store...empty...assistant greets me, NOT with a gesture but with her own words (i LOVE that, it makes me feel a bit special for a second) I head towards the boots I think Id like to buy..but am uncertain about colour options etc...I ask the assistant..she wears her pair for me..and goes through the colour options & fabrics..not pushy...not gestur'y (is that a word lol) I was then told to feel free to ask for any more help and after I purchased said boots..was told that if i needed help with fitting etc..just come back to the store..theres always someone there to assist. fahbulous service!! whats your experiences? do you like store assistants? do you hire them? just curious Fai x

sure i like assistance if its good info and i am looking for something particular.. but if im just browsing. i dont need them but if they steer u wrong or cant help u or make a big waste of your time cause they dont know what is going on and dont have a clue where and how the product works. then i hate them.. cause it just waste more of your time

Is the 2nd store Bax? I've had great customer service experience there, along those same lines. Friendly, personable and very product-knowledgeable without being the least bit sales-y or 'pushy'. Then again it's a smallish store with a narrow focus and limited amount of product.
But being 'easier' to train someone about a line of boots notwithstanding, even the larger stores should consider hiring one person per department and/or simply training their staff better.

I like assistants if they are like your second example and not the first
I do not hire them as I do not have enough business to justify taking up someone's time for doing... nothing.
however I am always available if a customer has a questions or needs help with fitting and such.

Im thinking that inworld needs to have that "something" more to grab my attention & loyalty...like great service...sometimes a creator has even dropped me a note to say "thankyou" that rocked my world ) Competition is fierce these days...and things like being greeted...or attended too really makes my trip worthwhile...however..when a product costs maybe 250L is it cost effective? As fab as these *touches* are...Im spending maybe a few £ $ whatever... But I guess Id keep returning to the same store..for a good product, the service..

I always presume sales assistants are only really necessary if your store is badly signed and your products poorly displayed and packaged.

I like to go about shopping on my own, and I do not want "advice" from anyone other than people who know me, what suits me and what my tastes are like.

I like the good ones. What I really hate is assistants that say "can I help" the very second I tp in there. I can't answer that question until after the store has rezzed and I've looked around it first.
I once was shopping for skins and the "assistant" not only jumped on me before I'd looked round, he tried to get me to buy a skin that was totally unlike what I was looking for, he also insisted that I needed to buy their shape as well to go with it. No I'm sorry, if your skin doesn't fit MY shape, I'll find someone else's skin that does.
I like there to be assistants in stores that sell scripted products, because I'm no expert on scripting and I like to be sure the product will do what I want before I purchase it.
