Cashing out USD credits that didn't come from the Lindex.

I credited a few hundred US dollars to my account with my CC last year -- enough to cover 12 months of tier on land I own.

I sold that land earlier than I expected, and there is still a couple of hundred dollars on the account, but I don't login enough (less than once a month) to spend that kind of cash in-world.

Unfortunately, it appears I can't cash out USDs sourced in this way (note the block caps):

"Note that you may only process credit due to net proceeds from sales of Linden Dollars. PURCHASES OF ACCOUNT CREDITS and credits due to gift codes or other promotional account credits ARE NONREFUNDABLE, and may not be processed as a payment to you."

So, my question is: May I spend the entire USD balance on Lindens, and sell them again, so that I may cash out?

What worries me is that this may look like a suspicious activity to the RiskAPI, and I will end up losing my money and getting my account cancelled.

I don't see any reason you can't do that. But you're going to take a hit from the Linden cut.

good point, I have a few hundred thousand linden I need to get out as well now. Been lagging doing it but its time I think. I'll watch the above question closely.

Yep buying the L$ then selling them on Lindex would allow you to cash out. I guess it may look suspicious but your actions would be totally legal and in line with the TOS so i would be suprised if your account was cancelled. The worst that may happen is that its suspended pending an investigation. But I don't think that is likely.

If you are really paranoid then buy your L$ in Lindex, transfer them to Xstreet and then cash out from xStreet into paypal.

Oh yeah LL just bought XStreet so they are no longer independent. Might as well sell on Lindex if thats your preffered method.

It's not relevant to you Ciera. You can sell the lindens with no problems. But if you suddenly acquired them, you would likely meet a problem.

Yeah, that will only total a few dollars (I think), so I'm not bothered about that. (I'm a bit rusty re cashing out and associated fees because I haven't done it for over a year.)

@Porky: I did consider cashing out with SLX, but then I saw the news this morning. My timing leaves a lot to be desired apparently.

@Ciera: I got nowhere with Live Chat a few weeks ago regarding this issue, but have just opened a support ticket. I'll add any new info to the thraed, including what happens when I finally try to cash out. (Which will hopefully be within the next week.)

Sounds like it would be easiest (albeit roundabout) to buy L$. I can't imagine you'd get dinged for that sort of purchase. Last I did purchase L$, it was for around USD 200, and nothing bad happened.

Oh, nothing will go wrong if I buy $Ls, but selling them so that I can cash out the USD would present a problem.

The Linden who responded to my support ticket advised me not to do that, but did go on to provide more help. I'm afraid to elaborate any further here until (if!) I get my money back.

Uh. Lesson learned anyway. Never pay tier twelve months in advance because circumstances change.
