Okay, so this drives me bonkers: I have to login to the SL website in order to do anything, really, right? View Forums, Account Info, etc. So why then do I have to login multiple times to buy/sell L$, Process Credit, etc? Can't we have just one login? Or am I being dense? Also, if I'm not being dense, and this is something that LL should be able to, in all its majesty and knowledge, change, can anyone point me to an existing JIRA issue? I've searched the JIRA site but we all know that the search is not intuitive.

Thanks,
O

RE-logins is for security reasons when you use for exemple one PC in a family or in a public library that not everybody can exchange or cash out your money, change your password, buy a sim and use your credit card, ...

I could be logged into my bank account and it wouldn't ask me to relogin every time I wanted to pay a bill or conduct any sort of transaction. This website should be the same. If security is an issue, force a logout every time the user closes the browser window, just like a bank does. It's not rocket science.

It would be rare for someone accessing their bank account to be on that site more than the small number of minutes needed to get information or perform a transaction.

On a bank site, you wouldn't normally be spending time reading and posting on a message board, reading official blogs from the bank, looking over FAQ, checking out auction parcels, etc., etc.

All these are common activities on Secondlife.com. People can and do leave the site up for longish periods; they are not as task-oriented as when accessing a bank account. They may walk away from the computer, or may switch between Secondlife.com and other sites.

The issue is, as mentioned earlier, security. While LL could have set up the site to cause you to re-log in as a function of time rather than as a function of pages accessed (buying or selling Lindens, making a bid on parcel, etc.), no doubt they felt that would be more irritating (and no more secure) than the option they did choose.

I agree with the other responders. It's a much needed security feature for a website that many people would leave open all day. Sometimes at work. If you are selling lindens and processing credits so often that it's really that annoying, congratulations and please IM me for a slurl to my tipjar.

I am already annoyed that signing into the forums gives access to my account information. I would really love it if just signing into the forums only allowed that, and not allowed accessing my account info as well.

I do not mind signing in multiple times to access various points of data on the website. It is a security function that i like.

Signing out of the forums should sign you out of the account info page but it does not. So if you really want your SL stuff secure, you have to sign out of the forums and then go to the main page and sign out of that as well.
