To recap my previous thread, maybe ten days ago I bought a 700L dress that was a disaster. I finally heard back from the designer. She believes that if I adjust my viewer settings so I have glow turned on, and fiddle around with the belt, the dress will be ok. I disagree; I think nothing can be done with it. I think the dress is the visual equivalent of a potato sack; turning glow on will make it, perhaps, a glowing potato sack.

But I wanted to ask: is the glow setting turned on by default? I wonder about having to use special settings to make the dress material look ok to me when maybe it would not look ok to others.

For settings that appear in the Debug Settings list, you can see what the default setting is.

Just note what current setting is, then click the Reset to default button.

If that changes the setting, set it back the way it was if desired.

There are a number of variables related to glow.

The default for RenderGlow is TRUE.

If the prim skirt is modifyable, you can turn glow on in edit mode. Right click, edit, look in the tabs for 'glow.'

Which will have no effect if the viewer is set not to render glow.

I think what the designer meant is turn it on in the viewer display. On most better systems it is turned on by default, and yes, it can make a lot of difference. Can, but doesn't have to.
