Hello everyone,
I would like to know if Linden allows or offers the ability to create my own internal SIM on my own network. I am interested in creating professional training and dont want risk having SL go down during a live training session.
Has anyone done this and is there a website that discusses what it takes to set one up.
Thanks

Linden Lab does not, but http://www.opensimulator.org does.

Hi JohnHenry. Linden has sims you can run yourself but it is a private beta now. You can sign up on their web page on http://secondlife.com/community/businq/ A line on the information menu says Running Second Life behind my company's firewall. Use that to ask to be on the beta or find out when it is public.

The lindens have their own program, though if you're on a tight budget, you might also take a look at http://www.opensimulator.org/

i have 26 sims running in city formations on my servers. Its opensimulation and it works quite well. my early ones lived ok but had difficulties. then there was a update along the way and they now run great. (dont ask me to find it again. i probably couldnt duplicate it all over if i tried. there were lots of problems and favors called in i wont do again.)
I had hoped to one day link my city to the SL grid but i see now that will never happen. waste of a year and a lot of late night oil.

If you have a good internet speed connection you can use open sim for the training and then upload to SL grid with second inventory (i not test it but much people say they can do it). Its really simple to get working and even more i found the other day a package to create the registration process via web with maps included (im not test it yet..). If i can help you in something just send me an im.
