Hi All Ok I want to take a picture of just a sunset - no-one in it, just the sky and the water.... But I can't do it - lol I can only appear to be able to zoom if I have an object to click on - ie myself or a tree etc - am I being really dim?? There must be a way to do this - hehe Please help and save my sanity! BB

Under the Client menu somewhere is an option to 'hide selected'. Use a tree or something to get yourself mostly set up and then click that option and select the tree or whatever -- it will go invisible.

Use the Zoom controls in the View Menu. Make a note of the Ctrl key shortcuts for future reference.

Two ways
1) bring up the Camera Controls widget from the View menu. (I personally find the controls to be not terribly useful since they don't do increments well.)
2) create a prim centered in the direction you need to zoom - just a basic cube. Zoom in and set up your shot. Click on the prim and drop a transparent texture on it when you are ready to take the snapshot. Don't forget to delete when you are done.

I like to just pan/zoom with the camera. Fly up/down/left/right of the target and pan/zoom back. You could also use the debugger in Advanced > Rendering > Types to get rid of avatars, prims (volume), etc.

Can't you just press ctrl-~ while in mouselook? Or whatever the camera key controls are.

And remember the only stupid questions are the ones that never get asked. We all have to learn sometime.
