Has SL Just Crashed...?

Building my castle I just noticed that the mini-map has turned red, I checked my wife's pc as she is dancing in our club and hers is the same although we are with different broadband suppliers.

Has anyone else noticed or is this a localised problem.....?

I'm inworld and fine.

I crashed and now it won't let me in ... gets to waiting for region handshake then says the log in package was never received.

You went red-mapped. This means that you lost the connection between your PC and the sim.

Could be that the sim went down. Could be that your internet blipped and you lost your connection and she didn't. Could be some bug that caused you to lose the sim connection. Sometimes these things recover. Sometimes they don't. Sometimes, the map doesn't go red when you lose the connection.

If you can still move about and talk, ignore it. If you can't, close SL and log back in.

BTW, SL is made up of thousands and thousands of servers. The region you're in could be down but everything else might still be up. Unless one of the core servers (usually an "assset server" chokes, outages are usually just confined to one area.

Also, animations like dancing are handled on your local PC. She could also be in the same boat but not know it yet - if the sim went down and her PC didn't notice, she'd just keep on dancing. Moving a bit or chatting is usually the way to see if you're still alive.

The time posts on these forum threads is like Sanskrit to me. Was this last night? There was a major explosion last night at around midnight PST. Sims had been going down all evening and coming back up, but at midnight everything crashed around me and the people I was with, and there was no coming back, no matter where I tried to log in.

Troutie, did you ever set your local time in the User CP? Seems to have been posted around 8am SLT.

..Thanks again..My place in SL is a mess right now and I was hoping to have it all up and running for the weekend as thats when we have our rush and sometimes more than two people at once turn up....!....'he say's optomistically'............!

Last night was a mess for me and my neighbors. Or sometime after midnight SL time. Every time I tried to TP, I would be logged out period!! Was always able to get back in no problem. Yep it wasnt just me, no one I talked to in IM could TP either and after a few tries wasnt going to take a chance of not getting back in. So we just sat around passing inventory back and forth to each other. A girl can never have to many shoes
