Quick question. I have owned an island for about 2 years and still held a premium membership plan. Is it true that I can downgrade to a basic membership and still be able to own an island? I want to downgrade but I wanted to confirm this is true first..
Thanks!

Thanks! Yes. You do not have to be Premium to own an island. They get enough of your money.

Yes. There is no requirement to be Premium to own a private island sim. You only need to be Premium to own mainland property.
Just to be safe, contact the Concierge before downgrading. They would be the best source for straight information about any pitfalls or issues that you might encounter. But as long as your payments to Linden Lab are up to date, you shouldn't have a problem with that downgrade.

I honestly didn't know that. Interesting, will be useful when I go for an island in the future.

From Concierge Group Chat 2008-04-19:
[7:07] Ethan Linden: if you want to buy a private region, you don't have to be premium to do that

From: Sae Luan I want to downgrade I don't understand people who want to downgrade in this conditions: - 72 USD premium annual - 300 L/week received from LL That means you pay LL for the "option" of support ~13.5 USD / YEAR

WOW where u getting your tier from at 75USD a month I want some of that I have to pay 295 for the main sim and 75 for the openspace But yeah Concierge support is very good and the only reason i stay premium is because of the 500 a week stipend so on the annual account LL pays me for my account use
